You might have better luck getting people to bid on your horses if you put them through breeding inspection. Most players will not buy horses that have not been put through BI.

@PaintedDreams I think you mean Breeding Advice, the free test. Breeding Inspection is the papering :)

You should definitely buy a barn instead of a tack pack, it'll help you get your account established. Rather than a tack pack which is just for looks. :)
