A mare can only have 1 foal a year.....so if you ended up breeding her to another stallion, that is her foal for the year, even if it's terrible, or dead, or anything under the sun.

It would be easier to figure out what is wrong if you gave a link to the problem stallion.

Without seeing the stallion, the only thing I can think of is that he may be in a pasture. Stallions or mares that are in a pasture can not be hand bred (or have straws/eggs pulled). You have to either move the horse into the barn for hand breeding, or put both horses in the pasture and breed the pasture.

But perhaps are you referring to the public breeding button? If you go to his "Control Panel" tab, there should be a whole lot of blue buttons. These include "Geld/Spay", "No Testing", and the one you want, "In House Breeding". If you click on that, scroll up and choose your mare.

If you want to have the "Breed to This Horse" button at the bottom of the "Horse Info" tab, you have to put he stallion up for public breeding by setting a breeding fee on the "Control panel" tab.

Put him and her in pasture to breed - its much cheaper. Of course he will breed with everything in that pasture who can breed so make sure you only have mares in there you want him to breed with :)
