The fact that sooty affects the size of the dots. This does confirm the fact that there are multiple genes working together to affect spot size and perhaps strength. Working to find what those other genes are is the key here.

Ok, so I know that IRL grey can affect an appy horse in weird and wonderful ways. So I was wondering, does grey increase dot size? I have a megadot grey girl. Will look at her parentage later.

Ok so had a look at Coffee Date and she is hom sty. I was wondering about the grey because I thought her mum was a microdot but, upon further looking, she's a mini-dot.

Looking through daddys offspring, he tends to throw small/medium dots, with that grey mare being the largest by far. And having a closer look, I am wondering if she is a mega dot. Her mum is het sty, which makes me wonder if grey makes dots smaller.....should go through pages of grey appys to see if there are any megas.

I have some sooty appys that have small dots. Maybe DP interaction with sooty is actually the culprit? Not sure how that would work. But are there any Liver Chestnut Appys in he gam with small dots?

I have a few liver appys for you.
This is the sire, he is hom sty and het dp with quite bigs spots, but he has quite a lot going on genetics wise.

He's had a range of different spot sizes, here are some random ones I've picked out.
Some slightly smaller spots, hom sty no dp

NS Not Asking 4 much
Much smaller spots, hom Sty hep DP

NS A Good Run MAM
NS A Good Run has had a foal with even smaller spots that is hom sty and hom DP

NS3 A Good Freak
Bigger spots hom Sty het Dp
