Breeding Advice

Can anyone tell me what the criteria for BA is? Both regular and advanced. Is there a way to evaluate the quality of my foal without using BA? I'd like to make my own decision whether or not to geld or spay.
I checked the wiki but couldn't find any info. -
BA is if the foal is a good result from the cross, and SBA is if the foal is better than both parents (or at cap). You can pay for comparison testing to the parent for a lot more money, or you might be bootstrap breeding where you just need papers above the low parent, or you might just need a horse with all the genes to max and boost, but almost always it's worth running BA.45120

I understand that BA is considered a "good result" from the cross. I want to know what criteria the game uses to determine it is a "good result." Is it an average of a numerical value of the result from the breeding inspection? does the result of the performance inspection factor in? Are there other, invisible criteria?
I would like to determine for myself what is a "good result" if possible, but if there are hidden criteria, obviously that will be impossible. -
It uses hidden breeding ability numbers you can not see. PT score has no impact on breeding advice.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I suspect it is more than just that the foal is better than the average of its parents breeding inspection numerical value, because if that were the case, I would expect about 50% of the foals to pass the test, and that is far from the case. Something else is involved, but I don't know what.
-
OK, thanks Ammit. I'm assuming the breeding level affects the averages - lower levels having lower chances of average or above foals, higher levels having higher chances? As I progress beyond foundation levels, I will have more foals pass the test?
-
That is actually backwards. Higher ability makes better foals but you will get lower passing rates as you go higher. Just like real life, getting an average horse is easy. Getting a world caliber horse is really hard.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. Very interesting. So it is designed for even low level horses to have a significantly less than 50% passing rate, and gets harder, but more rewarding, from there? I'm glad to know that the game remains challenging.
Am I right in thinking that a passed BA means the foal is at the average of its parents or better?
From what I have learned here, I will stick with using BA, but only use SBA when both parents are of similar quality, as it seems almost impossible to pass if one parent is significantly better than the other. -
Also, I was wondering what the AFPT score is on some of my horses, but not others? I was thinking at first that it was something to do with the SBA, but now I'm not so sure.

"Am I right in thinking that a passed BA means the foal is at the average of its parents or better?"
Not quite. It's a better than average foal FOR those parents. It's not based on the average of the parents.
You are spot on about SBA.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

AFPT = Average Foal PT. They need foals with a PT score to have an average.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

OK, thank you so much! That makes things make a lot more sense, and I feel like I can use the tools at hand a little more purposefully.
