    Ok, she AtAt which makes her "Homozygous Brown" carrier. To be brown you have to be aAt, StySty, and she is SS. The Homozygous Brown HH can be any color, but they will always be AtAt.

    I have some browns with just one sooty gene - so I am assuming just one is enough - that makes sense!

    They may have DP to cover not haveing the second Sty. But a brown must have E? aAt and two darkening genes, either Sty, Dp or Sty+.

    She has the brown gene, but she is not dark enough to look brown. The name is based on the color not the gene just like real life.

    OK thanks Ammit. So I suspect I will need to breed her with some sooty in order to have her offspring called brown. Presumably the second one just looks brown enough to be called brown.
