Feedback Needed On Upcoming Embryo Implantation Changes
-
I will be updating some embryo mechanics soon here and could use some help figuring out how things should be displayed.
-I am going to allow the pasture bonus of the recipient mare to be applied to any embryo foals they carry.
-I am going to add the ability to use a mare "supplied by the university" for embryo implanting. For 1k you can just pay a fee and not have to have a surrogate mare on hand. (They will have no pasture bonus)
An important thing of note is that more and more browsers are refusing to display ultra-long drop-down lists. This is a growing trend in browser design and will not be going away. As such I need to start hard limiting all drop-down lists in the game to never show more than 1k horses at a time. When I update the surrogate mare dropdown there will only be 1k horses listed.
Currently, the game does not show you pasture mares in the surrogate options and displays mares in reverse alphabetical order (z first) so it is easy to force your surrogates to the top of the list.
My question is how should the new drop-down be sorted?1)Should the University surrogate mare be the first option on the list or the last one on the list? (The game will remember if you selected a uni surrogate for your last foal.)- decided it will be at the end, other wise the game will keep picking this option over and over and driving people nuts.
2) How should the list be ordered? Should it stay in reverse alphabetical order or should it go from most pasture days to least?

I love the idea of pasture bonuses being applied! I would leave the order as is with reverse alphabet, doing it by pasture bonus will take a lot longer to sort through for those of us who still might want to use our own surrogates. I think the university surrogate should be up at the top as well, to prevent people from having to scroll for ages to get to it.Continuing my reign as the most annoying player on the forums and hgg’s favorite butch lesbian cowboy

If it is on top it will default auto-select it every single time you go to implant a foal. I had not thought about that before but I think that would get super annoying after about foal #3.
Thanks so much for helping me realize that!Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I am struggling to think of a reason why someone who had a bunch of pasture mares they used for surrogate reasons would not just have them properly labeled so they showed up on the top of the list, but I want to see if there is anything I am missing here before I commit to a set up.Need to contact me? That’s a good point, I think the only way that would be tough is if someone had Z at the beginning of their horse’s names for their barn prefixContinuing my reign as the most annoying player on the forums and hgg’s favorite butch lesbian cowboy

Sounds like a good plan. Should be easy enough to label surrogate mares so they show up first in a drop down.

Will embryo implantation from the horse's page ever be an option? With straw/egg pull on the page and straw/egg/embryo listing/sale on the page it seems like another logical step. Then I wouldn't have to load all the other embryos every time. Just focused on the embryos available from the mare or stud I'm concerned about.

You can already implant embryos from the horse's page.

A new tab has been added to the horse page called "Breeding". The AI breeding block from the Family tab has been moved into this new tab. I will steadily move all breeding functionality into this tab and away from the control panel and the breeding lab.Need to contact me? Read this first. I prefer the recip mare list to be reverse alphabetical. Mostly because I spent hours last month adjusting all my mares to have ZZ in place of the generation marker so they maintained their randomly generated names but showed up at the top of the recip list ;) and doing that with AA again would take a while since I want them to keep their names.
I do have a question, though. I thought pasture bonus and AI breeding were separate. If any element is AI, using straws or creating an Embryo, it automatically used a 15 day pasture bonus and if the mare had a pre-existing pasture bonus it didn't factor in. Plus, mares in pastures don't show up in AI dropdown lists.
Is that no longer accurate? Can I put a recip in a pasture for 30 days, implant an embryo and get the 30 day bonus even though it's an AI breeding? -
I just want to make sure I understand. The surrogate mare pasture bonus will apply. The donor mare will still remain the '15 day bonus' that comes with AI breeding.
If the surrogate mare is in a barn = 15 day bonus due to AI breeding.
If surrogate mare is on pasture for 30 days = get 30 day bonus. -
I’ve done some minimal testing this morning, but this is an absolutely fantastic change. I was a little leery going into my main account to see how everything would be sorted in the lab, but the menu is working flawlessly! I love that the university horses stay after you use them. It’s so convenient.
I’m going to need to change my order of things up slightly, because I’m lazy about the names on my pasture horses. Time to reorder and place as in their names, which is super easy now, thank you. I love how I have ways now to keep my era lines/backwards lines much more consistent so I’ll be able to move away from the extra horses I’ve been keeping since the last leaderboard changes.
I just wanted to pop a quick thank you because this change is amazing.Thanked by 1Ammit -

So far, most everything in the lab is great! My only note so far - I wish I could implant embryos from the page of a mare in the pasture. While I know I could fix it by renaming, I have a few random sacrifice mares this season while I wait for the dedicated, named girls in pastures to collect their bonus.
