I'm pretty new here, and am probably a little more social than average. So I wonder what countries other players live in, whether they're farriers, horse rescuers, or just old retired horse lovers living in a city. Bonus points if you'll share your time zone.
I'll go first. I'm retired from the aerospace industry, and have spent most of my life living in a house on a small living in Seattle.
I have always loved horses and for almost 10 years I lived in Idaho and had a horse or two of my own.
I'm in Pacific time zone and am an early bird.She/her my user # is 59035 -
I love this!
I'm in North Carolina (EST).
I used to be a high school Animal Science, Vet Assisting and Equine Science teacher.
I'm now an author and run our hobby farm full time. I spend a lot of time teaching riding lessons. :)
We have 7 horses currently, 5 are rescues.| #59142 | Spotted | Reiner | Chocolatey | Enchanting | Stygien | Lunara | -

I’m in Ohio (EST)
I am a veterinarian. Specifically a Theriogenologist (animal reproduction specialist) and I work at a veterinary college where I teach veterinary students and see cases. I see all species but primarily dogs and horses.
I grew up your typical kid in the suburbs who loved horses. Took riding lessons and had a horse in high school. Rode on the equestrian team in college and now live vicariously through my patients. :)ID#43150 | she/her
Breeding Warmbloods of superior quality that suit my fancy!Thanked by 1Minute -
I'm in Minnesota. (Central)
I grew up in Texas with horses, but I haven't had one since I was old enough to drink. I actually chased the concept of a genetic game here. That the art is horses is just bonus. I'd be just as happy with cats. But I'm probably one of very few who currently owns no animals. My last dog was the best boy, and I'm not ready to try again.45120Thanked by 1FollysFantasies -
I loved horses growing up but never had a chance to ride or take lessons until I got into college.
I've never owned one. I rent by the hour. I love riding different horses and figuring them out. And I like the physical challenge of it.
I was training to play polo (so much fun!!!) but took a fall in game and broke bones just before COVID. Now my life situation has changed and I don't have the time or $ to continue that hobby. Now I do agility with my dog. Also fun, and easier on my bank account.
Hopefully finances will change and I'll get back in the saddle. It's never too late!
Central time zone.Thanked by 1Minute -
I live in Michigan currently, but previously lived in Sydney Australia and have plans to move back eventually.
I rode horses for most of my younger years, but had to leave the field entirely when I turned 18 and couldn't afford it on my own. I miss it dearly and would do anything to ride again, but it just isn't in the foreseeable future.
Now, I am a full time student with goals of veterinary medicine. I also work part time as a veterinary technician at a cat only hospital and have been there for 4 years.Thanked by 1Minute -
Another North Carolinian! (EST) :D
I've owned quite a few horses (19 throughout) since I was 10 yrs old. We showed AQHA/APHA/ApHC, local level mainly and trail riding. When learned I was expecting my son, I traded in my reins to focus more on our family. I still hope to maybe get back in the saddle soon. I have plenty of friends who allow me to get my fix in ever so often, but it's not the same as your own. I would love for my kid to learn to ride and enjoy what I did at his age.
We go fishing/boating now a days. (when I'm not cleaning beach houses or working my other job. :)))
I have two cats (who make me regret allowing to stay inside) and a 75gal tank with 2 bichirs in it.
@Seaswell I lost my 2 Australian shepherds (old age) who were MY girls and just haven't had the heart for another yet either. -
I am on the East coast (EST)
I currently own a 24 y/o QH mare that I raised and trained from a foal. She is retired from riding now due to arthritis, so living out her days as a pasture ornament. I was your typical horse crazy kid and turned into a still pretty horse crazy adult, lol. Not sure yet if I will replace my mare when she passes, but I would like to be able to go riding again someday.
I will have been a member for 2 years this September and have enjoyed slowly expanding my stable and starting up way to many various breeding programs. -
Hi, Pennsylvanian here (EST).
I'm a vet tech and inventory manager at a dog and cat (with rare rodents and one bird) clinic. After a car accident in 2021, I do a bit less hands-on but I do more behind the scenes stuff, including helping vets research new medications, decide which ones we should carry, and work with compounding pharmacies to get prescriptions made for our patients.
I did horse riding from 3rd grade to second year college. Had a big fall from a horse my final semester of riding and after that my confidence was shaken but I also couldn't balance lessons with tech classes anymore.
I keep up with horses by following people on Facebook, and playing HaJ and some computer and console games. :D
Outside of horses, I like crochet, diamond painting, and various other video games (not all are horse ones!). -
@TripleGRanch you honestly remind me of one of my old trainers. I think she may play the game. It would be hilarious if y’all were the same person
Update for anyone that cares, she is in fact my old trainer.| #59142 | Spotted | Reiner | Chocolatey | Enchanting | Stygien | Lunara | -
I work in higher ed in the Pacific Northwest and have a mustang mare of my own! We dabble all over the place, but recently we've been playing at competitive trail, cow sorting, and gaming!

Hi from the Seattle, WA area! (Pacific Time)
I'm a driving instructor and former long-haul trucker with zero RL horse experience, just a childhood collection of Breyers that I now occasionally find time and inspiration to customize. Like Seaswell, I was chasing the concept of a genetic game, bonus that it happens to be horses. I've always thought they were gorgeous animals, even back to the days of my My Little Pony collection.Folly's Fantasies #43484 (she/her): Horses, straws, and eggs from my Doubleskunk tribute herd are always free.Thanked by 1Minute -
@tripleGranch, we rescued a 1 year old husky for my youngest son, and it turned out to be highly trained and way too smart. Someone had surrendered him cause of a car accident that needed surgery. For 16 years he made a big deal about every daycare kiddo that walked in my house every single time. I think my favorite was the way he would guard sleeping kiddos from their wide awake peers. Body block for the win. He also ran away within 15 minutes of the first snow every year. Every freaking year.45120Thanked by 1Minute

My name is Gypsy (dad named me after a Fleetwood Mac Song), and I’m soon to be 40.
I am a journeyman farrier currently based out of Missouri, but I’ll always be a Northern California girl at heart. I also have a business my sister and I been trying to build for the last year called Wood Witch Apothecary… we make salves, tinctures, soaps, teas, herbal incense blends, candles, and bath and beauty products.
I’m the weird spotted four horned jacob sheep of the black sheep side of the family…. I grew up on a multi generational cattle ranch, but my parents were kinda hippies so they converted it to a biodynamic grass fed operation. I was riding before I could walk, and have had horses most of my life. I apprenticed with a farrier through high school.
I dropped out of college my freshman year to work sound crew on Grateful Dead tour and jumped around doing sound for a few other bands, and when I got tired of the constant travel I took some herbalism courses and got a job as the herb/supplement manager at a health food store and had a side gig as a medical marijuana grower and still shod a few horses on the side. I did that until my grandmother broke her hip seven years ago and I moved back to Missouri to help take care of her so she could continue to live at home. When I moved back I picked my farrier education back up and now I specialize in laminitis and navicular maintenance and rehabilitation.
I have four dogs, five cats, three horses, two donkeys, I lost count of the chickens and other feathered critters, six cows, a pig, and a herd of meat rabbits.
I’m a bookworm. I play five instruments poorly. I like sewing, pottery, macrame, welding cool things out of used horseshoes, and gardening.Thanked by 1Minute -
I’m on the east coast USA (EST)
I was a lifelong ranch hand and rider before I got knocked down by several disabilities etc. I’m back in the saddle as of yesterday! I was a goat trimmer by profession as well. I read a lot, raise a kid, make tons of art and jewelry, am obsessed with tomato and apple cultivars, and hang out with my beautiful fiancée every second I can. I play jaw harp in my spare time and find the vibrations of it soothe my anxiety. Before I got yote into the sun by illness, my daredevil cowbutch rider self collected a ton of wild experiences that I get to tell stories about, which my friends find very entertaining. I have a princess of a cat named Piper Pickle and a service dog named Persephone.
I am an LGBTQ educator, activist, and amateur historian, and it takes up a lot of my time. I especially help young, newly out, and questioning folks find their way, and help them locate resources and learn history that otherwise they wouldn’t hear about. I focus a lot on lesbian history, especially butchfemme. Right now I am working on history preservation and oral history preservation with a couple of organizations, which is so important and fun.
When I’m not napping from narcolepsy and juggling all of that, I’m on here :)) You’ll find me switching back and forth between those things and haj a lot- I’m a good multi tasker haha.Continuing my reign as the most annoying player on the forums and hgg’s favorite butch lesbian cowboy

Hey there! I'm out in Western Oregon in the Willamette Valley (PST). The grass pollen is quite awful right now. I have 2 littles and have feel like I have finally reached the other side. I feel like me again and I'm getting back into regular riding lessons that having been bringing me so much joy.
I do have two ponies; 11hh and 13.3hh. I've just been doing loads of self taught ground work. Last year we did quite a bit of mountain trail shows. The 13hh just turned 3 and will likely be started under saddle next year. I was a horse obsessed little kid in the suburbs that was a working student riding mainly hunters in SoCal. And I never outgrew it. Now as my parents say its my husband's problem lol.
I also love reading, newly found flower gardening and beebopin around on h&j. I do spend a good chunk of time chasing my feral kids and hanging out with them.ID 52206

Hello. I'm a near fifty year old in Florida. (I apologize for all things odd that come from our state in the news- I swear I didn't do it.) I am a former research biologist and worked in a university and hospital setting for a number of years doing multiple different jobs. I was in school to become an optician, but unfortunately my health decided I was done working and going to school.
I spend most days trying desperately to get my barns and pastures under control (I get easily distracted). Please feel free to search through and ask for anything. If I can't sell it, I will pull straws or eggs or whatever for you.
My favorite things lately have been sitting on the back porch and watching the 6 ft gator cruise the pond, float in the pool and read, and playing endless games with my family. I have two kids, one has left the nest and works in theatre. My youngest graduates this year and just passed their driving test. My car is now always empty. I have one cat who is my constant shadow. Lord only knows how many lizards I have in my house right now because of her late night shenanigans.
I have never personally owned a horse, but try to ride any chance I get. I have always dreamed of having a horse, but model horses have had to fill the gap. (You should see the art in my house and office...).
If you have any book recommendations (or have written any), I'd love them! My goal is 120 books this year. I don't think I'll quite hit it, but I made my 100 last year. I love fantasy, sci-fi, light romance, adventure, thriller, mystery, pretty much anything except the really spicy stuff.
Anyway, that's me. I'm a little odd (autistic and ADHD), so if I come off wrong, my deepest apologies, it was not intentional. I'm just weird. -
@mamamiastables
Check out Clouds Rider and Rider at the Gate. Sci-fi horse books. I really enjoyed both of them.Thanked by 1Minute -

I love this! Getting to know a bit about everyone is beautiful!
I'm in Kentucky (EST) and work on a thoroughbred farm. During foaling season I'm on foal watch at night and assist the girls with foaling. Once everyone is foaled out and happy, I go back on days and take care of what were the barren mares who are now pregnant with more mares added as weaning happens.
I currently have one mare, a 23yo TWH, who used to ride trails with me but has been retired for the past few years. She's the absolutely sweetest girl to ever live with an obsession for yellow horses (buckskin, palomino, gold champagne, etc). Now she hangs out in a pasture with another retired TWH mare and a QH mare and gelding. They all get peppermints every time I visit.
I bought my favorite TB mare from the Keeneland auction when the farm I was working for at the time decided to sell her. She was an older lady, barren, unraced/ not broke to ride, and very opinionated. She was strong willed but respectable so long as everything was being done her way. I adored her. She passed from colic in 2017.
I've always loved horses but never had one of my own until I was 25 when I got the girl I still have. Growing up we didn't have money for lessons or paid trail rides, but I had friends who would let me play whenever I was there. My papaw kept a pair of draft horses he worked with in the logging woods when I was a wee child before they moved to town. They weren't for riding because they were off work he say and resting up for tomorrow, but I could pet them and brush their legs and tummies(that's all I could reach) and take them a sugar cube each in the evenings.
In addition to my mare, I have three dogs and one very geriatric diabetic cat. I love to read anything and everything. And I mean everything. If it has words written on it, I'm reading it. I also collect vinyl records and canisters. -
Hi! I am 27 and live in Michigan! My name is Ashley. I have been riding horses in RL since 2009 and currently own a 22 year old bay roan leopard appaloosa mare named Angel (my profile picture). I also have a goat that turns 10 next month who I have had since she was a weanling at 3 months old. In addition to that, I also have currently 92 rabbits with more babies on the way haha. I breed and raise national show quality Mini Lops, Mini Rex, and Rex for show, meat, and pelt. I have a dog, a Great Pyrenees named Olive who is the bestest doggums anyone could ever have. Shes a big fluff ball that loves getting love and attention from everybody.
I went to college in Ohio for 2 years to get my Assoctiates Degree in Equine Studies and also became master certified in Equine Massage Therapy. I got to complete my master certification at the 50th annual National Reining Horse Association Futurity event in 2016 and got to work on some of the top reining horses from some of the top reining trainers in the world. Unfortunately tendonitis has prevented me from making a career out of it but I love having that experience and knowledge.
Unfortunately, I don't ride much lately because I can only ride by myself (no horsey friends near me and I only have the one horse so boyfriend cant go) and riding by myself tends to make me feel a bit sad and lonely. I also injured my back in November by falling out of a trailer and now riding causes painful flare ups (I still ride every so often when the urge hits).
I also enjoy art and photography as a little hobby and making different crafts.Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

I am Cat and I am old (how old will remain a secret).
I apologize for not being American! I live in Ontario (EST) Canada (born in the UK).
I am an ESHQ Manager for a branch of a German chemical company. I have had horses since I graduated post secondary - currently have a 16 year old 17 hh Percheron TB. I have done eventing bu now I have gone down the rabbit hole of Positive Reinforcement or Clicker training and having a blast. I also coach, judge and exam Pony Club kids.
I have one teen and one young adult at home with a disabled spouse, 2 cats, 3 dogs, 1 budgie, 1 gp, and soon to have chickens again! -
Don't apologize for not being American!

Hi! I'm Stella! Born and raised in California, so PT. Lol my age will also remain a secret, but I am still studying. I live in a huge city, so no space or time for me to have a horse. I ride regularly and show occasionally (show jumping and English pleasure). I lease a gorgeous red dun sabino splash AQH/Arab called Sneak. She's so cute.
I spend almost all my free time with my friends, of course. I used to have a cat who I absolutely obsessed over (I managed to teach him how to stand on his hind legs and spin on command lol). He sadly passed away three years ago. I'm traveling this summer (France, Switzerland, and got to Scotland last night) but when I get back I'm going to find another cat.
Uhhh lets see... not much else about my boring life to share. I'm single, love horses, play volleyball, and run long distance.
