Question about Consistency
-
How much impact does Consistency have on a horse's lifetime payout? Or does it even out on average, and lifetime payout remains the same?ID 58328

It tends to even out over time. Testing only alters based on it by member request.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

So why is consistency considered so desirable then? Are there other advantages to it?
Also, @Ammit, what do you mean by "Testing only alters based on it by member request"?ID 58328 -
Members asked for testing to alter inconsistent horses. It's not something I put in because it's that important to game play.Need to contact me? Read this first. I have never looked at consistency for show horses.
I use it as a way to help me pick which foals I am keeping as breeding stock and which to spay/geld. If I have 100 foals, but I only have space for 5 intact foals, I need a criteria to help me separate my 5 keepers from 95 future show horses. So I start by doing all the testing, then move on to genes and lastly consistency. It’s a tool to help narrow down who your keeper are.
As a general rule inconsistency causes a horse to have a lower PT score than they would if they were consistent. I will sometimes GMT consistency onto a inconsistent low PT score and it can rase up to one point. 12 inconsistent PT + GMT = PT 12.2-13 consistent. Since one of my breeding goal is breeding the highest PT I can, and creating horses that regularly throw those PT numbers for generations, inconsistency isn’t a friend in my program. It’s a tool, but personal preference dictates whether you use it or not.
The common belief when I first started the game 6 years ago was breeding inconsistent horses together could cause a really inconsistent foal that wouldn’t pass BA. Which could explain why consistency is stressed as important. I think that’s a myth, or no longer relevant; but Ammit would have to answer that.Thanked by 1CarlyManciu -
Testing very much alters a horse if it is too inconsistent. That's what I was talking about above. Members asked for that feature to be added to the game. You even get a special message telling you the horse is "too flighty" if that is why they are altered.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to.
