Splash 2 not actually homozygous lethal?
-
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/Rb3wD7tgVif1emrw/?mibextid=oFDknk
This farm has now produced 2 homozygous splash 2 horses. Not sure if it'll change anything for the game or breeding, but it's an interesting update!
(I put it in bug section because if it does change in-game it'll need repair. Feel free to move it if it's decided that in-game SW2 won't change!) -
I moved this post because it is not a bug in the game.
Not all lethal gene combinations are always lethal. It is called Incomplete Penetrance. Some genetic combinations are highly but not always 100% lethal. If there are only 2 known in the world that are homozygous it is probably a highly lethal combination still.
Note how neither parent has very loud markings and/or a bunch of other mutations. Probably contributed to the viability.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I'm surprised someone would take the risk of losing a foal to maybe get a rare color. I'm guessing there are probably a lot that die and likely some that are homo that no one knows about. I also don't think a lot of people have their horse genetically tested for color either.

Sadly intentionally breeding for all white horses is not uncommon despite the health challenges they face.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

Yuck, sounds similar to dog breeders who do merle x merle despite the health issues.

@HighstormFarm Very similar, as the filly (and her full brother?) is deaf =(( But they* like that, because "they make the best show horses". I cant find an eye roll emoji, so please imagine like 5 of them right here.

Thanks for all the comments!
Yeah, it's totally fair not to change game mechanics. I agree that they seem to have tried plenty of times and getting only 2 that are homozygous means it's pretty likely to fail, still.
I was also a little perturbed by the fact they clearly intend to breed the homozygous horses, even already when this filly isn't even a weanling and the colt is a 2 year old in training. I would hope they wouldn't breed to each other, but I have low expectations.
