After doing some intensive testing I have found that these days the primary era club lags too far behind. Members are breeding horses that are so much better than they did in the past that it makes sense to move the primary era (that one that gives extra prizes) up. Basically, it is now possible to reach cap quality in just over 1 year of breeding effort so leaving an era for 2 years means it is possible for players breeding in a later era to use smart boosting to dominate an era that they did not build their line in. If you don't understand what this means don't worry. Just know that the change is to keep era breeding competition fun and fair. There is no point in having the primary era come so late that the only horses who are at cap or boosted post cap can compete.

To accomplish that for the next 6 months we will have two primary LB eras.

Bluegrass Primary Era Calendar:
December 23: Era 12 and Era 13 will give extra prizes
June 24: Era 14 will give extra prizes.

Forest Primary Era Calendar:
December 23: Era 10 and Era 11 will give extra prizes
June 24: Era 12 will give extra prizes.

Mesa Primary Era Calender:
December 23: Era 2 and Era 3 will give extra prizes
June 24: Era 4 will give extra prizes.

I am still doing my testing and it is very likely we will have two primary eras in June 24 as well but I am starting with shifting things by six months. Also, I will be manually adjusting these eras after the rollover so don't be surprised if you don't see both eras as primary right away.

I plan to add a few more color breeder clubs to the leaderboard in December. Do you have a suggestion for a color/gene that could use its own club? Let me know below. I will be picking from the suggestions based on which ideas have the most horses that qualify for them.

The changes to the primary era clubs sounds good!

For color leaderboards I'd like to nominate Grullo, Buckskin, Perlino, Kit Promoter 2, Splash M, Kit M.

Seconding the nominations for Splash M and platinum, and while I don't think kit M by itself would be enough for a club, I do think the white spotting could use some reorganizing, as right now it just chucks all the white genes together. Maybe split it into parts one and two with half and half? or the more common ones in one club and the rarer ones in another?

Fantasy suggestions: Splash M, Platinum and Tobiano Modifiers - those are the only clubs we're "missing" if you follow the same organization that the licenses have.

For non-fantasy, my only other input is that the DP club is way overloaded due to the popularity. I'm not sure how to break it down, but maybe providing an additional "Liver" club that requires the name liver in the color name could help split that out for people who want to be more specific with their breeding without having to compete with the nth Rank Special that's been entered because it has DP that you can't see under its black base.

I love the change to primary era clubs.

I don't think that KP2 needs its own club, but I do think it would be nice if horses that had one copy plus two kit genes could be put into that club, as KP2 expresses with just one copy.

I'd love a platinum club!

I agree that the DP club is huge and it might be nice to try to split it in some way.

I have done some investigating and made some notes on suggestions I have seen so far.

The largest clubs currently are DP, Appaloosa, Cream and Fantasy Open.

Belton is large enough for a club now. Gray reduction is borderline. Platinum is much too small for its own club and won't be getting one. Some of the suggestions I am seeing for splitting clubs there is no point too. The clubs are small enough already.

We could potentially have E and ee versions of DP, Appaloosa, Cream, and Fantasy: Open clubs.

That would be a really neat distinction and keep them from getting double entered, I like that! Clever! What about SpM and tobiano modifiers? Too small for clubs as well?

Splash is too small to be worth splitting. TM genes are not common enough to need a club yet.

I have a small breeding project that is "liver" so a liver club would be great!

And if I start an Era 14 line, I'm not exactly sure I understand what this change would mean?

I definitely cannot afford maxing/cloning horses and I feel it's going to take years for me to be able to complete on leaderboards. The high pt scores alone tell me the top producers are of quality I won't reach for a long time.

This change would not impact you at all if you are starting an era 14 line so no need to worry about that. No one is negatively impacted by the era change. Some people just might get extra GMTs 6 months sooner than they would have otherwise.

Temporarily. Once I had the length of time where I wanted it to be it would go back to one primary era at a time. Every era will get 6 months of being the primary era. No era will be skipped.

Since we are not getting a platinum club, is there any way that horses that are only het for platinum or chinchilla could be eligible for regular color clubs to give them a chance to show?

No. The club system simply does not work that way and would not understand such a rule. Platinum breeders can earn a club by producing enough horses.

Platinum, bring back brindle, buckskin, ASR , Sun, sno , maybe break up the double dilutes into cremello, perlino, dunalino also it would be great if all fantasy horse’s could be eligible for their body type registration… they should not be excluded for the color of their coat.. i totally get not being eligible for the “normal “ color breeds but their body types doesn’t change. Some fantasy horses are only eligible for one or two clubs.

DP being divided is so exciting to me! So is splitting fantasy open into EE/Ee/ee and appaloosa! This will give a lot more players chances to get on the boards, and make breeding more interesting. As a player who tends to be on the boards every breeding year, certain stables and lines tend to bottleneck the boards, and this will make for so much more variation. I can’t wait to see what newer stable names we see getting up there. This is a fantastic idea.
I’d love to see a grey reduction club and a belton spotting club! I was really hoping we’d get this announcement :x
As far as allowing fantasy into the body type clubs- I don’t agree with this suggestion. This is because the fantasy clubs are mainly dominated by older, successful players, and fantasy horses being kept to them makes the other clubs more fair to other players. We don’t need those lines on other boards and make it even more difficult than it already is to break into the boards. Of course not all fantasy lines are owned by older players, but there are many that are. The body type boards tend to be easier than the non fantasy color boards, hence why I think they need to stay the way they are.

Editing to add: I really want a splash M board, since there are more than one splash genes. As the resident splash obsessed weirdo, I’d love to see it haha

I was wondering if you were going to move the era clubs up. I guess I'll have to start using c foundations again. I've been starting all of my era lines 6 months behind. I'll have to boost one generation this next month to catch up.

The new boards should be a new fun grind. I think a good majority of my fantasy boys are still E/e I think only 1/4 is EE that's in open. Adding new clubs is always a fun time.

Fantasy will never be allowed with the size clubs, just like how they aren't allowed in era clubs. They are the unwanted second cousin to the game, unfortunately. Luckily we have fantasy clubs, which is a blessing in and of itself.

Platinum breeders, if you want a club next time I add them you will need to put many thousands of foals on the ground in the interim. There are several other genes with much larger populations who deserve a club first.

Update on this post. We will once again have two primary eras for the June to December cycle. Monitoring all 3 servers I can clearly see that in the June to December period boosting will displace the top lines from the primary era, meaning that boosting will decide who wins the primary era awards not who was competitive in that era for the entire run-up time. I don't think it's fair for a member who did not participate in an era to get all the most prestigious awards for that era.

The reason boosting can overtake an earlier era is because of the ability cap. With normal breeding, If you are six months behind you will never catch up to the best-performing lines of the prior era. Once the prior era hits cap though they stop getting better so the newer era can catch up.

Pushing the primary era one slot forward again protects the work breeders do for their eras and makes sure they are getting all the accolades for other efforts.
