What do you think needs tweaking?

Also is this something that makes you excited for the AT? Is this the BC you hoped for if you voted for them? Thanks!

  • Love the body condition shape to this breed art. Personally, I'd like to see the base of the neck connect in higher at the shoulder as I feel that's a pretty significant feature of this breed. Perhaps a bit more arch to the neck as well?
Overall, beautiful though. The muscley lean look of the breed is definitely well represented here.

Thank you for all your hard work!!
  • We have a lot of people who like the more working style of ATs rather than the extreme swan neck some of them have so I am hoping to find a compromise with this neck.

I think you are spot on with the chest connection though.

  • I am not an expert on the breed, but baby looks a little camped under to me. I think it's because the hind hooves are so far forward? Not sure if this is a normal stance for AT foals.

  • I like this way more than I expected! I don't like Akhal Tekes very much as a breed, but I dig this art.
  • Tekes are known for crazy long backs and high withers. I feel like the adult needs to look a tad longer with steeper withers.

I also agree about the hind legs on the foal seeming a bit off.
  • I don’t think crazy long backs and high withers are all that common

  • Less from a breed perspective and more from an art perspective from my side, it’s looking really nice overall. The one thing I can see that looks a little off on the adult is with the combination of the front legs being a bit further back and the head being lower/further forward, it makes the whole thing feel a little front heavy, like slightly off balance. Compared to the example pictures above, all of those either have a higher head or slightly further forward front legs. (And the foal art looks fine)

Not that it’s not a pose that a horse could strike in general/while walking, but that for this game where it feels the horse is on display I think the stance should feel a little more stable.

Open barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!
  • I think the part that looks off is the far front leg joining the chest. When a horse has their front leg at that angle, the shoulder blade and humerus are further back, so the elbow isn't exactly in line with the other one. On the foal line art it's correct, the elbow is behind, see how you can see space between where the far leg and belly line connect, and the line for the back of the close leg?
On the adult horse, the far leg ends with the elbow in front of the elbow on the close leg, even though the far leg is angled back further. The photo examples above show how the far leg, angled back, has the elbow joint also further back than the close leg.

  • I love the foals head! The top line of them both looks a little weak from the withers though the croup. The hock to pastern angle seems a little camped under given the illusion of a weaker less athletic joint structure. The muzzle of the adult makes the head appear slightly roman nosed .
