Tell us what Breed Characteristics you want to see next
-
We are starting to plan out the next set of BCs. Our current plan is to have the Morgan, Lusitanio, and Shire but we really want to know what breeds you want to see featured.
Please post your suggestions with a horse breed you want to see added to the game. If you want a very dished fashed arab, or a heavy set quarter horse please make sure you are specific and give examples. Otherwise, we will assume you mean a generic member of that breed. You can post photos/links if you want, and explain why you think a breed should be added next. It's ok to repost the same breed or variants of a breed posted by someone else. It's also ok to have variants of breeds we already have represented.
This is just our brainstorming phase. There will be a round of voting to help us decide on the final picks.
_______
EDIT: Posting this here since people tend not to read the thread before posting.
We have sat down and gone over people's suggestions.
Right now our plan is:
Light: Traditional Arabian
Medium: Stock type QH and a Lusitaino/Andalusian (a true wb would be better but I want a Spanish breed lol!)
If Jenx has time he will try to also get out a Fjord before the end of the year.
We also have a Halloween BC in the works.

I love love to Kladruber
https://imgbox.com/nktMzwq7 - Kladruby head shot
Model Horse
White Kladruber/Kladruby horse
I also would love to Arabian horses to but not the American bred ones they are too tall and the head is too dished - they make a pretty picture but I think they would have a hard time doing the job they were bred for in Arabia
Arabian body types
Other breeds I would love to are American Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred and many of the Warmblood breeds like the Trakehner, Dutch Warmblood, Oldenburg and the Hanoverian

Not sure how restrictive the Gypsy Vanner registry rules are, at first glance they don't seem to restrict specific genotypes. But I have always adored them.Folly's Fantasies #43484 (she/her): Horses, straws, and eggs from my Doubleskunk tribute herd are always free.Thanked by 1Summervine

@FollysFantasies there is a standard for the breed but they are only called Gypsy Vanners in America, other countries call them Irish Cobs or other names, it is the same horse but the word gypsy is not liked and so it is not used, but they are a wonderful breed with great temperaments. Vanners in America stand at 14 to 15 hands but there are smaller horses and those Vanners are helping to create the Miniature Gypsy type horse. But the Vanner size can have taller variation depending on the bloodlines of the horses, they are after all mutt type horses, sort of like the many Warmblood horses, Gypsy folk bred for what they liked but always with good temperament in mind, the horse needs to be safe around their children.Bluegrass id:182429

@FollysFantasies You should read the announcement post about BCs and how they work. We are not adding real-life breeds with their rules into the game.

For anyone who might be concerned, we would only use the term Vanner in the game, never "gypsy."Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I would love to see a nice Quarter Horse .Quality riding horses with DP, Sooty+, Sooty, SB1 and SB2.
Owner of Ice 1, Phantom Diamond Sparkle, Phantom Lace, Chinchilla, Splash White M, Chocolate, and Onyx. -
I would love to see an Arabian BC. Probably a more athletic than halter type, while still being recognizable as an Arabian.
Not this though
I also think a Fjord would be very cute!

@HighstormFarm I agree with you, the more traditional looking Arabian the ones bred in Arabia the original type body not the American type body(we got too carried away with the super dished head and tall look). American bred Arabians make a pretty stylistic picture but I think they would fail at doing their job.Bluegrass id:182429

I would love to see a Fjord! Coloring might be difficult there though, since the color is so tied to the body shape. I would love to see a working-bred quarter horse. I would also be interested in seeing a thoroughbred-type warmblood!
Thanked by 1Xceptional -
Color does not impact body shape so it would be fine. What specific breed of light warmblood do you mean? Or do mean an actual thoroughbred?Need to contact me? Read this first. Agree with functional Arabian type! The Al Khamsa ones come to mind. https://www.alkhamsa.org/education/al-khamsa-arabians
Also I would love to see a riding pony shape, like that has a distinctively pony body. Like an Australian pony, or a Welsh Section A? So the pony isn't just the horse body but in miniature. Cobs and medium weight ponies tend to have proportions similar to the draft or medium weight horse, but light horse bodies aren't the same proportions as light pony bodies. https://wpcsa.org/start/section-a-welsh-ponies/ https://apsb.asn.au/breeds/australian-pony/
Also agree with Fjord body type. Would be phenomenal if duns had the dorsal stripe go through the mane, if that's possible. Even if not, it would be spectacular!
I also need to extend a point to making a quarter horse body type. The ridden ones, not halter. Something like this: https://heritageranchstallions.com/ the picture of HF Mobster listed here. Definite quarter type, but balanced for riding. Would fit for the people who enjoy the hunter body type as well! -
@silverborn I can't see any conformation photos of those Arabs. Are you able to find any good side on shots of them to show what they look like?Need to contact me? Read this first. I am seeing lots of quarter-horse suggestions but I think it probably makes more sense to have more of a warmblood type for our next one since we don't have a super warmblood type to represent them yet.Need to contact me? My tiny showable (sport?) pony collection on bluegrass would give a lot for a pony that looked like a pony. Short legs, thick body, lightly shaggy. My google search suggests exmoor. I am not a horse person I came here for the genetics.

Some thoughts based on suggestions so far
Light: It seems like a traditional Arab of some sort would be very desirable. I think this is probably our next light boned.
Medium: Lots of calls for stock-bred Quarter Horses, but I really think we need something more fitting of that Warmblood monicer this round, and then do the QH next go.
Heavy: Not a ton of suggestions for these. I have seen Fjords, Vanners, and Fell ponies mentioned more than once each.
One option might be to do an Arab, a QH and a Warmblood and skip heavies this round. I have no plans to make it one of each, each time we put something out. There are far more of the lighter breeds to explore.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. I'm totally interested in the shire and lusitano BCs!
I would also love to see an Akhal-Teke BC :x
love the fjord idea too! And, as evidenced by my Belgian Waffle, I would love to see a chunky belgian :D

I would love to see a good old fashioned foundation AQHA (FQHA) thick ranch type quarter horse. I never can figure out pictures in forums but King P–234, Poco Bueno, Playgun, Roan Hancock are good examples of type. Or, though I think he was appendix, Chub, the horse Dan Blocker rode in Bonanza is a good example of thick ranch type quarter horse.
As far as drafts go, I love the Poitevin mulassier because they are big and thick, but still have graceful necks and elegant lines.
I am also a sucker for a Roman nose, but maybe not as extreme as those that can be exhibited by Kladrubers… so Id be excited about Lusitanio.
Oh and mules. I want weird mutant mules that can breed! -
I would love to see more heavies. I'm putting in a vote for cobs, fjords, and shires.
Would also love to see the traditional, heavier percheron type.
Love exmoors!
I have a soft spot for quarter horses since I grew up with them, but I mainly breed for heavies in game and that's where I'll be focusing my breed characteristic tokens. :)
If looking for further light boned ideas, I always thought Caspian ponies were very refined and delicate looking.ID# 25784Thanked by 1Summervine -
For light bones, I'd love to see welsh mountain section a. But with the height being such an important part of the breed I don't think an 18hh secton a will be that great.
For medium bones, you could do connemara? Such a classic ridden pony here in the UK. Extremely versatile, friendly horses.
For heavy bones another vote for fjord! Absolutely my favourite breed! Opportunity to bring out a few more mane options on the tack packs to accompany general fjord styles. I'd die to make all my heavy breeds fjords and then I'd definitely have to start another line with genuine fjord geneticsID - 47350 (Most Licences) Breeding heavy. PREs would be lovely! Eventually we'll get a more WB style BC, lol

Sorry, @Ammit. I'm not a real life horse person beyond "Oh pretty horsey!" so I guess I am a little confused.

Would it be possible to have a specific height breed too? So Shetlands for the medium boned with the height restrictor gene?21170
-
@NorthernStars the Breed Characteristics aren't restricted, but you could do that with a breed you made - make the breed height restricted and then assign it the BC you want that breed to show up as.

I don't know if the plan for breed characteristics is always the whole horse or if elements will be rolled out at all, but I'd love to have feathers/shaggy fetlocks for medium bone sizes (and maybe even light bones?). Not full on Big Floof tack set -like feathers, but the more slight ones you sometimes see on mustangs, dales, or even on the Friesian breed art without all the rest of Friesian.
I understand if that's not what you're going for with breed characteristics, though.
