trying to gmt this boy to hom chinchilla

keep getting this error (Your horse has the - allele for this Chinchilla gene.
No edits are available for this gene)

Chinchilla usually needs to be bought with real money. I think the edits on the GMT page are for those who want to remove certain genes from their foundation horses. You cannot buy Chinchilla in the GMT lab at this moment

Another reason that chinchilla and the other genes that have to be purchased with real money for foundations are present in the GMT lab is that they are available to add to lined horses who miss inheriting them from a parent.

Chinchilla is currently available in the Random Gene Sale list for $15 per copy. Ammit has very kindly put almost all RGS genes up for sale now.

If that horse is a foundation, you should be able to add the extra copy there, unless he has foals on the ground (maybe). His link is incomplete so I can't check him out myself.

if i breed a hom mare to non chn stallion and baby is het can i add chn from gmt lab to make that baby hom chn?

You can only gmt a foal into the combinations parents can give them. So if a stallion does not have that gene, you cannot magic it onto the foal. However if you breed that het chin baby to another het chin baby (once they're old enough), you can gmt any foals that missed a copy to make them hom.
