It's been quite a long time since I have played this game in earnest, with some major life changes causing me to quit for a while, and when I came back nearly everything had changed and has continued to change. So the way I used to play is not possible anymore. The main thing that changed that was the pasture breeding dropdown selection going away.
Here's what I used to do:
I would name my horses according to their generation, paper level, and genes. For example, a foundation yellow mare would start "1C" followed by the ID number or name, followed by the letters of the gene code. Some of the extra genes I came up with a key for so I had something different to represent all of them. That way, when I went into the pasture, I could select my stallion, and then go through my mares by generation and multiple select the ones with the genes that I wanted to pair with that stallion. That way I could get all 50 mares for each stallion imported to the pasture in one go, and each month's breeding would get done super fast.
Now, I can't seem to figure out a simple and efficient way to do this. Naming by gene took the most time out of that old process, and I don't think there is a point in it anymore because I haven't found that having the genes in the name is useful in the new breeding process.
I am looking for recommendations on how people are doing it now.

P.S. I am sure there is a good way now, and it's probably quite simple, but I just can't seem to wrap my brain around transitioning from one way to the other.
