I was gift this horse but it is in the auction…

You can still remove it from the auction. Go to the public auction house and click manage your entries and select the horse from the drop down to remove it.

it's because the person who sent it was not careful and sent you a horse that was in the auction. HighstormFarm is correct, you can just take them out of the auction.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
