We are running an experiment on Forest server to test the new user experience and we quickly realized that the pointed create sales were going to cause problems down the line for the server if we did not put a cap on them. People could create a second premium account and use that to get unlimited pointed creates to keep and sell. This had apparently already started up in the short period the larger pointed creates were available so it is good we got out ahead of this before issues started to really form.

The goal is to get cash in the pockets of new members for them to start out and help them build up a solid starter show barn, not to line the pockets of older members.

With this in mind, a few changes have been made to the create a horse page.

1) You can now keep creating pointed creates up to 60k held points. At 20k points the points for each create are halved and at 40k points they are halved again. This is to help you wean down off creating your points and onto buying and showing for them.

2) I added a bunch of text to help clarify what is going on, why show horses are important, letting you know when your pointed creates will run out etc.

3) There is now a secondary cap. If you hold 60k points OR you have created horses with 100k or more worth of points you can no longer make pointed creates. This is a living cap. That means as those horses die off (even if they are archived) you can start making pointed creates again. This is to allow new members to sell up to 40k worth of pointed creates without it impacting their ability to create horses, but stops people from making unlimited pointed creates for the purpose of transferring money to their primary account. Why a living cap? If you leave the game for a while and come back I want you to be able to start fresh

These changes mean that we will be incentivizing new members to keep the show horses they create. That means they need a new income stream. I have changed the achievement tasks so that they are now giving 10 times the HBs they did before. I have added cash rewards to all achievements AND I have added OVER A MILLION hb in new achievement rewards. New achievements mean you can claim them even as an older member. Enjoy your free million bucks from the new achievement milestones older members. (And watch out for the cash cap!)

-I also super boosted the bonus stall xp to give new members a place to put those new show horses.

We are going to be testing this out to see how this changes the new user experience. That 100k limit is flexible in the future. We are going to try it out and see if that is a good cut-off. As for the total user experience update, we will be doing more in the communing months but I wanted to get this live for the Forest server experiment. I am really looking forward to seeing how these changes work out.

Folks with puppet accounts: you are very welcome to deactivate your first puppet and make a new one to test this if you are too far in.

This looks great! I like how there is a slider on the side of my screen that tells me how close I am to each advancement step (reduction in pointed create ability.)

This is a really good move - I completely changed my tactics on my new account and took my pointed creates off the market and bought a show barn. :)

So good - I love this update! Free million on Mesa and I went ahead and bought my first 210 stall barn here! Very curious to see how the of price of pointed creates will be affected. I am still at the point where I will continue selling mid range pointed creates for a little longer. I have a few listed at over 50% now

@summermonarch I don't see that slider though? Where is that at? Are you on mobile or desktop? ETA: Ah are you maybe just referring to the achievements? I have not finished the basic ones yet so I do not see point related achievements.

I like this way a lot better- it’ll definitely keep the value of pointed creates up, and provide more incentive for new players to hold on to them. Definitely going to adjust my tactics. :)

@ammit can some of that new verbiage that shows up after you create a horse be added to to the "Performance Overview" section on the "Member Home" page? At a minimum it would be helpful to see my total points of living horses there.

This is so cool! The achievements got me enough IVs to buy my first 1000 stall show barn. I thought it would be a few more months to get to that point!

This is awesome, I was wondering how I could raise cash without having to sell all of my new creates. That was the way I had to do it to make money on my main account and then I wound up with almost no pointed horses of my own. I'm off to do achievements now! So exciting :D

Uh-oh! I think I’m over a cap somewhere as I don’t seem to be making pointed creates anymore. Where does it show total points created? (Still like the update! Wish I would have kept more high point creates, though. Oh well!)

I think this will help to encourage people to play the game "as intended" and will really make the new user experience better.

SummerMonarch it doesn't yet but I'll make sure and add it soon as I can. In the mean time you can do a search for foundations created by you but not owned by you to get a rough idea.

As I’m processing no longer being able to make pointed creates, I thought of something that would make this a neat graduation thing rather than a can’t-do-this-anymore thing. What if accounts got a very rare rank special when they hit that 100k created point mark? This would be their very last pointed create and could be called something like Welcome Friend or One of Us or something else. Getting the horse both tells you that you can’t make pointed creates anymore (so it isn’t a surprise) and reminds you that you are part of the community. And, if you were silly and didn’t build your show bar in this period, it gives you one last thing to sell for good cash.

If this idea comes to fruition, I want one and promise not to sell it. :)

I looked into adding the foundation point count onto your home page but it is very much a no go right now. It would cause significant lag when you load that page. It only works for the new members because they are so small.
There are ways I can get it working but they would take significant amounts of programming that are just not in the cards at the moment.

I am going to give you guys an unlisted page you can look at in the meantime though.

I think this great idea.
I know when I started I didn't know or understand the importance of a show herd. I love idea right off the bat there is explanation of why you need them.
I think the weaning of show create is also good idea.

Just thinking and had question.
So if new players sell pointed create and us old members buy most of them. Is this going cause a problem later on? I know I buy a few when I see them offer for sale. I honestly try keep my daily pay out at 200k-250k aday with hbs cap.

Just don't create lots of pointed horses and sell them to your main account. I'm guessing that would be a problem and highly unethical. Is that what you meant?

@ WolfDen. No that not what I mean. I believed there a rule against that already? Not sure but I don't do that.
@Ammit. What I'm talking about is new player selling their pointed create and older players buying them up mostly. I know I normally grap them up if I see them for sell on open sell boards. I'm wondering if that cause a problem later on?

It really depends on what you mean by problem and if you mean problem for the seller, the buyer, or the game? Are you asking if it ok for older members to keep buying form new members?
