  • Ok, got up to a good start today. One thing was I would not have realized about the welcome pack if it weren't for my experience as a new person years ago.
Creating horses to sell as show ponies went well, found some better herd helpers on the forum page. The highest point values were in the 900 range, the lowest was like 33 or something like that, but the second lowest was 200, when I was creating horses for this strategy in another account a few months ago the 200 point horses were on the high range of the point scale instead of the low end, I am posting horses for way higher than I did trying to show new user experience earlier and they are selling. I will still say that new users want to jump into the breeding and that would be deadly for this strategy. Maybe a slightly larger welcome pack barn? Like either breeding... or the more important issue of building up show ponies will fill up the stalls we have very quickly, and the whole fill up the barns and have to wait a few months for the money to come in game is very difficult as a new player without other established accounts to fall back on while waiting.
  • Oh my goodness, after writing that I looked up and enough horses have sold to have me at 205k. This is from creating this account just a little bit a while this evening. Maybe this strategy will help get me a basic upgrade and get a new barn before I get around to filling the stalls I already have!... I will say pulling this off is using my knowledge of how to use the forum and find herd helpers, finding profitable ones, using market knowledge and checking the lifetime earnings to figure out best price to sell them, etc. As a new user I probably would just be creating random creates and filling my barns full of foals till I had no money... That is actually what I did my first time... but yeah.

  • I have a basic upgrade from in game money already! If you go pointed creates selling instead of starting with breeding you don't seem to have to worry about running out of funds!
  • Bid on a bunch of horses at auction and noticed the extra price of pointed horses over 10. I know this is to encourage people to keep the game tidy, but if I was a new player that was struggling with income this would lean me away from older horses. Don't know what this means, but just thought I would bring that up
  • I got a basic upgrade and then maxed out my pointed created with 35 horses currently in my barn. This really helps get the start of a show herd while still leaving room for breeding
  • I keep on forgetting to train horses, I think that has been something that has happened every time I have had a free account, and that is a thing a newbie might not think of which will help them even with the pointed creates. Maybe add a "You have horses that have not been trained" notice, similar to the "You have foals in the pasture" note on the home page?
  • oh it's SO hard to train horses one at a time!
I am Fiddler on bluegrass, 276934

  • One thing I noticed, it let me click the add tack achievements even though I had simply bought horses with tack. Is that ok, or do you want to change that? Also even now I find tack tricky to manage, usually my own fault for not reading things well enough or putting color codes in the wrong box, but maybe if there can be a link to a tutorial of how to do the tack system on the achievement that could help people do that instead of just buying horses with tack (I did not do that in purpose, I was bidding on a lot of HT horses in auction and they happened to have tack)
  • At least if I put my cursor just right I can just click while watching something on my phone or talking to parents or something and look down later and be like "Oh, they are done" Probably not good for carpletunnle, but my first item of business with a new account is get basic upgrade, which I was able to do i n2 days selling horses. Honestly the fact that the show barn button is on the bottom of the barn instead of the top is way harder for me now and honestly usually results in my not showing for months at a time...
  • I definitely agree that the enter barn button should be at the top like it used to be... I thought maybe I would get used it, and I have to some extent, but once you start getting into 1k stall barns it's a lot to scroll through all that to get to the button. It's manageable for me on desktop but not really on mobile, one of the reasons why I don't play much if ever on mobile.

  • It moved because it is not possible to have it higher up. A jump to the bottom is possible but not moving the button because of how HTML forms work.

  • Ok, good to know. Like is it a can't be higher up period? Or maybe could it like on the side either under achaivment tasks or maybe put it as an extra tab of my show entries beside the individual horses one where basic upgrades plus can also do a click to enter the barns through that? I have no know what schedules, logistics or computer language would dictate though.
All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.
  • Having new user experiences in June are December definitely makes it interesting because the daily rank specials give us something to come back to the game to do every day. That helps me find other things to do or fool around with or often leads me to the forum... But if I was like, "Oh, I will be back in a month to breed." I would be far less hooked in the game... I don't know what to do for people who start not in June or December, but that definitely helps on those months I imagine
  • Just did my first month's breeding here. I will say I did not wait for full pasture bonus and kinda created my foundations more impusivly on what looks/ sounds cool and didn't check till after that I bred a perfect foundation to largely exceptional mares... I also bought everything I could from the HT breeder auction sale, so has 35 foals from a range of foundation to 4th gen stallions bred to their generation of stud... but the foundations unfortunately got the short end of the stick with the wrong rank special for a stallion for them. out of 35 foals, 18 passed breeding advice with representation from every generation but the last that only had 3 foals anyway, no colts were good, no filly was superior to their moms in foundation, obviously. I would have had more pass if HT didn't have such amazing stock that I got 2 gold 4th gen fillies and auto spayed all the blue fourth gen fillies, only 2 3rd gen passed comparison to the third gen mares I had...
So I guess the thing is, if players get more out of the I need to create a bunch and learn how to make a great herd out of scratch right away and but horses, ideally from the same breeder so they have the same standards it can really help them...but it does add to growing pains because it does add I high standard to work with. I will say I am on a high from the fillies that did pass, especially the gold papered ones 2 weeks into the account, especially since I have the structure to hopefully get a good 4th gen boy to pair with them... but the whole breed foals and have them mostly turn into show ponies, even though I know is needed, can be hard.... And now my barns are getting full with foals. XD I know they will be needed to hold the fort when the pointed creates start aging out... But that is long term. Fortunately I will be able to get a barn when I need to.
Getting horses from sales or auction also helps get lots of fancy genes that would be hard to get otherwise!
  • Can we add detractions of the rank specials that are easier to find? I know they are out there, but I don't even know how to get to them and a new person probably won't know the are there to be found, but knowing what genes and quality a rank special was would really be useful for planning your herd, especially deciding who to create as your stallion and who would be better as brood mares. Could the stars be buttons to the descriptions or something? Not knowing and making decisions on the moment tends to impact the foundation herd negatively from what I have found
  • Thanks. I sent you 2 Brand New Day straws and 25k.
