Barns
  • I'm finally starting to get the hang of things around here! I want to organize my horses as best as possible, how can I get more barns? I know I can unlock bonus stalls, but I want to add more barns.
  • Save up money! The more IVs you buy, the bigger barns you'll be able to get. As much as you can, focus on building your show herd, because they'll help you get a steady income, but early on you can also do things like make pointed creates and sell them for money, or make a batch of mares, breed them in pasture, and then auction mares and foals together. That'll help you get enough to buy your first couple of show barns, and it'll go up from there. Save carefully and you'll have it before you know it!

  • Tip, barns get more expensive by the amount of stalls you have, so try to get the biggest barns you can to get the stalls cheeper than if you got the number of stalls from smaller barns

All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.
  • Yep! Though if you need to get one or two small barns at first it's not too bad, but definitely go for the biggest ones you can manage.

  • Thanks guys! Also, I've been hearing about pointed creates but I still have no idea what that means.
  • Oh! So as long as you hold less than 20,000 points total, every horse you make comes out with some points (randomly generated number less than 1000, with a bias into the 100-300 range). Once you break past that cap, they no longer do. That means bigger barns will pay a nice little sum for pointed yearlings, especially those with 250-300+ points, because it's more points on a single horse which means more total points (and thus more income) in less stall space compared to non-pointed foundations, and it's something only tiny barns can make.

Big barns have money, small barns make pointed horses, the market makes itself. It's a pretty good money maker for small barns. You can either stick them up on public sales or in chats (there's even a pointed creates chat just for that), and usually use the "total lifetime payout" number as a good price, so stay just under that. If it says total payout is 16k, then put the foal up for 15k, etc. and people will snatch them up pretty quick. All the ones under 150 or so points you can just auction to get their create price back. It's a pretty solid way to make multiple IVs a day in profit. (And you can also save any special 700-800+ foals for yourself and your own bonus! Or sell them off for a pretty penny.)

  • Oh wow thanks so much! So much good info to absorb like a sponge :D
  • Reading it over again, what do the points actually do? It sounds like they bring in more money but how?
  • It's like... points from showing.
Totally random numbers here, but say you had a real life halter QH that got over 500 points... in game, those points would mean that horse gets you daily show bonus pay because it has those points. The horse can also gain/earn more points up until a certain point it's life (which can and does vary per horse).

  • Yep! Pretty much every time the horse is entered in a show you have a chance to get points, and total points translate directly into daily hbs. It's a rate slightly higher than 10%, so if you have a total of 20k points you'll be making just over 2k daily bonus.

  • Also, horses left in the pasture will train, but they can't be shown. Their total points counts towards your nightly bonus, but it does not increase. Once you pull them out of the pasture they can show, but they will lose their pasture bonus for breeding!

  • @ConfluenceFarms, Ammit did change it so bonuses aren't lost until monthly rollover now!
