I’m devastated
  • So my heart horse has a broken hip, so I retired her hoping that I can breed her. She is sound, has an amazing mind, is built amazing, great pedigree. I just got her test results and….

She has never shown any symptoms of pssm1. And now I know I can’t justify breeding her. :( I just feel completely at a loss at this point. Can’t rider her. Can’t breed her. Now I need to be on the lookout for any pssm symptoms. Life really hit me with that hard rng bomb.
  • OUCH! So sorry to hear about your girl! I took care of a mare that fractured a hip when another horse ran into her out in the pasture. It was just sad to watch. :(

  • So sorry about your girl. *hugs* It's always horrible when one we love is injured or we find out they have genetic problems we can't fix.

  • Yea is sucks because she is absolutely perfect otherwise and I’d love to breed her….but I just justify breeding a horse to have a problem. Ugh.

The hip has been healed for a long time, vet cleared ridable, but I decided not to push her. I figured…I don’t need to ride her I’ll have a baby someday. I put the last 8 years of my life into this mare and it’s just…blah. Have a pasture horse even though you did everything right. Haha. I’m too ethical of a breeder to produce a horse that is guaranteed to have a problem. Sometimes it just sucks doing the right thing.
