Should I Geld/Spay An Inconsistent Horse?
-

Hes stunning, but I don't know if I should geld him because he's Inconsistent or not -
Inconsistent is only for showing, if I remember correctly, not breeding. Showing and breeding don't have anything to do with each other, I believe.Love,

No inconsistence is absolutely inheritable.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

It would depend, if you have access to papering I would see what he papers. If he’s an A, you could save up the 125,000 HBs to buy a GMT token to make him consistent. Or you could try again next season. Normally though, I geld/spay anything that is inconsistent.

I knew it was inheritable, I just meant I didn't think it affected their breeding.Love,

Like Ammit said, no inconsistence is absolutely inheritable. I would say it depends on what you are breeding for and what you want out of your herd - Higher papers? Higher PT scores? Pretty ponies without worrying about PT or papers?
In my even-by-generation lines, where my main goal is the highest papering possible, I don't mind if horses are inconsistent. Right now I'm getting PT scores in the 13's at Gen 8 and still seeing decent progress in paper level at each generation, so I'm happy with keeping inconsistent foals.
However, in my bootstrap herd, where I don't breed evenly by generation or paper level and my goal is to get the highest PTs possible, I do snip inconsistent foals. Inconsistency can bring the PT score down, which is why when you GMT a horse to be consistent their PT score might go up by a few tenths of a point. Even with an all-consistent breeding herd, I still get a few inconsistent foals every year, but less than I would if I kept inconsistent breeders.
If either paper or PT quality is something you are interested in breeding for, I would definitely paper test your foal (higher PT scores of parents don't predict higher paper levels in foals, but better-papered parents will throw foals with higher PT scores, if that makes sense). If you look at the pedigree, you can see that the sire is already a paper level lower than the grandsire, so if you want better papers and higher PTs, you would definitely want all keeper foals from that sire to paper A or Blue.
But, if like many players on here, you are just breeding for pretty looks, then keep pretty foals to your heart's content and don't worry a bit about papers or breeding!ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)
