Dark Sun Rising was a very rare exceptional foundation stallion before they were reintroduced to the game years after I joined (And I am a new player compared to some!). You can find him many times over in just about any era 0 boosted horses (I know mine are just absolutely full with him) and so I have caught some referring to him as the grandfather of bootstrap, though he also was the father to some of the most cherished and highly prized second generation stallions in the game back when I joined. I am trying to remember Cheer's handsome guy, and I remember I got third gen descendants of him when I started, but one again that was years ago.
Dark Sun Rising was also a beloved foundations stallion of Dark Star, a player who helped and inspired me a lot when I started playing, even when I got impatient about lined breeding and started to breed a stallion I got to her lines to all of my mares to try to get horses like hers faster. XD She was patient and helpful, giving the newbie me advice and even giving me straws from some of her favorite studs, both higher papered/ gene, and lower as well if I wanted to breed similar horses and still do lined breeding. She was really a major role model for me, and probably one of the reasons why I still am in the game, trying to keep and live up to her legacy now she is gone with my bootstrap herd which is still heavily influenced by the last horse I got from her high passed on about a year or so ago.
Well, in the midst of all the legacy project going on I have missed her a bit more, and remembered the straws in the freezer waiting for the perfect mares to be used on, and thought it would be a waist to prevent these truly influential studs from being incorporated into lines if people were so interested, and so I decided I wanted to try to make studs to make Dark Star and her boys proud, so I went to work trying to pair the right mares with the straws to get horses that eroded the spirit of the stallion they were from while adding some things that weren't even in the game yet when their studs were in the game.

Now that he is finished, I think this boy fits my vision.
Looking at his genetics I was amazed that he got all of the goodies from his dad; the satin, the tobianno the kp, the rabacanno, the frame and sw1... and he has complementary genes from his mom. Really as far as genes which were out at the same time as Dark Sun, the only difference between him and his father is the fact that he is het black and bay and only one SW1. As far as things that were not out back them, this boy has DP, which I thought was important because I remember she once said she liked dp and would have put it in her heard if it had been out when she made her foundation herd. He also had ND1 because the mare I paired had it, and although ND1 is too new to get her opinion on it, she liked duns so I thought it would be cool to have on this boy... plus I like it too, so that can't hurt either.

He is now A papered, and a Dark Sun Rising colt should be, and so I am ready to present him to hopefully post for public breeding next month since Dark Star always seemed more than willing to share her horses with other players who were interested: I would love to present to you, The Midnight Sun.
