UnAltering Question?
-
I just had to have this guy from auction, fell in love! I thought he would pass ba since he is B and his sire is a C, although I don’t know his moms paper I figure I’d risk it and just unalter him if he does pass. But now he’s not showing up as being able to be unaltered? He doesn’t have any foals do I don’t understand.
XX Gothic Art 4 -
Only breeder can unaltered, that way breeders can limit intact offspring if they want to and still give show ponies. I am sorry about thatAll into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.
-
@VioletStables @Wildland Acres that must be it! I might have to do some messaging... thank you both! do either of you know if an untested/worse than horses can produce a foal that does pass ba if they paper higher? Hopefully my phrasing makes sense!
-
CoppiLane - If you’re wondering if a horse that tested worse than its parents can produce a foal that passes Breeding Advice then the answer is Yes. I have a few in my herd that tested worse then their parents but went on to pretty good producers.

That horse looks pretty but would not be a good breeding prospect unless you are just looking for pretty colours.
If you look at his full pedigree he has 9 generations behind him and there’s large drops in quality (at one point it gets up to blue and A papers but then drops back down to C papers) and uneven breeding (different paper levels) at the very least he and his sire should be *Star papered and his dam *Gold but she may be red if she’s lucky but was untested so not even sure if she would’ve passed BA
His grandsire and granddam on his sires side were both B and Red but his sire is only a C which is a step down.
He wouldn’t even be a great bootstrap horse unless you had really great mares to pull his foals quality up.Breeding even generation Grullos with Ice -
@EvieC thank you! That’s so good to know :)
@Bandit1119 hypothetically, if not altered and paired with a good mare of equal paper, could they end up producing good foals that continue to climb in paper level as if his pedigree never existed? -
I have a few wrong warp/watercolor mares that could be GMTed into a stallion if you would like one. You would probably have to add a white gene though and appaloosa to get them to express like that, but they're intact and this is the father. He's a pretty guy.

Sure, but you can easily get access to already good studs of similar genetics. The genetics are not that hard to find.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

As Ammit says you could but why wouldn’t you use something that is already better with less uncertainty in their pedigree
If we were on HJ1 I could give you a hundred horses with similar genetics and no more than 3rd generation (just because I don’t normally put RGS on foundation mares so I need a second generation to add the second wrong warp on the dams side) and all of the horses in the pedigree would be superior to their sire or dam and at least a B if not A papered.
By fourth generation I expect (and require to be intact) the foal to be homozygous for all fantasy genes a foal could inherit from its pedigree.
By 9th generation it better be all that and a bag of chips too. With *star papers to boot.Breeding even generation Grullos with IceThanked by 1FeldingFields -
@Amit @Bandit1119 here I was so busy asking myself how’s and ifs that I didn’t even ask myself why lol. I have been known to make things harder on myself!
@pinkie2 I will definitely take you up on that! -
I'll message you. I would also be more than happy to just send you straws if that would be better!
I take that back he has diamond sparkle, but some if the foals don't so we'll do it that way :)
