Foals from this stud? They should inherit a fantasy gene correct?
-
SM RS SweedishFish
Shouldn't all of his offspring have a fantasy gene? I noticed that some of his 10 foals don't carry a fantasy gene? -
No because his Fantasy Gene is not Homozygous. He has 2 different Fantasy genes.
For example this guy is Homozygous Watercolor. So ALL of his foals are Heterozygous Watercolor.

He's only heterozygous for a fantasy gene on his second strand. They could've gotten the "gene" from that strand and therefore could've missed it completely.Love,

@EvieC, he's still homozygous on strand one. Which if that were his only strand, they all would get one of the two genes. Since he is chimeric and has two gene sets, he is also passing on set 2 sometimes, and that means there's a possibility he won't pass the genes at all.Love,
Chase ♡ -
He may have two different fantasy genes, but they're both in the "phantom" allele, which means if he passes on strand one, he will pass on one of those two genes.Love,
Chase ♡ -
Homozygous? But it’s 2 different Fantasy genes on his first strand. Don’t they have to be the same Fantasy Gene for it to be Homozygous?
-
Awe ok. Makes sense. Darn wish now I had made him homozygous on both sets now. Didn't think about it.
-
Oh! I thought both genes had to be the same one. Wow! I didn’t know that. That’s pretty neat! Guess you really do learn something new every day. Especially on this game! LOL There’s so much to learn!
-
best friend - I kind of did the same thing. I made a Splash Stallion Homozygous Watercolor. Unfortunately since he is Splash and carries the OLW Gene I’ve lost 3 foals so far from him to the Excessive White Gene.
-
@EvieC, nope. Just like a palomino pearl (a palomino (chestnut with het cream) with het pearl), can pass on cream or pearl. Although, they won't pass on both at once - just one.Love,
Chase ♡ -
That’s so neat! I didn’t know that. Wow! Thank you for explaining that.

You can also adjust the scale on which set of genes the horse passes on. If I have a brindle with paid genes I tend to put them all on one set and increase the chance of it inheriting the side with the paid genes to 75-100%Breeding even generation Grullos with Ice

How do you do that Bandit?
-
I think you do that in the gene modification lab Best friend. I'm sorry. It looks like he only has a 25% chance of passing no fantasy genes though because his second strand still has one.
Now Evi, genetics in this game is so fascinating and in depth, like genetics in real life. It is so fun. So there are various genes that you can be hot or hom for. The dominant/ recessive genes are more straightforward to understand, but then there are some genes with codomininant genes or other modes of inheritance in here similar to real life. Your horse is homozygous watercolor with the same variation on that allele. Best friend's horse is also homozygous fantacy on the phantom gene. They are two different variations of phantom, but since both alleles are fantacy he can only pass on a fantacy allele for that gene on his first strand.
Now this horse here is a good example of heterozygous fantacy. He has 4 different fantacy alleles (splash SWM, Ice 9, Axiom x, and Chocolate b) Looking at him you can see that they are all on different genes though, so each gene is heterozygous. This has the advantage of there is a possibility that foals could get all the fantacy genes, but there is also the possibility that foals get none. (I am sick and my head is in a brain fog+ I don't want to get a calculator right now, so this is very likely not accurate, but roughly there is a 7% chance of either of those happening most likely the foals would get some fantacy gene from him, but there is no telling which one/ ones they would be because he is heterozygous for all of them.)
Now, if he had nexus (Axiom x) And wrong warp (Axiom w) he would be homozygous for axiom genes, but het for each variety, so all of his foals would have an axiom gene, but some would have nexus, and some would have wrong warp, but none could get both from him.
