The Winter 2020 Gift Exchange is now open. (The link under the community tab of our navigation.) You have until the end of November to enter. This thread will be a place for the experienced to share tips and for anyone to ask questions or make requests for help.

Make sure you read the entire entry form and are detailed and use the CORRECT names of genes/herd helpers etc in your wishlist form.

Schedule:

Dec 1st Assignments Announced
Dec 15th First Gifts Go Out
Dec 22rd Givers Revealed, Public Gifts Go Out
Dec 31st Last Day to Give Gifts

Jan 1st MANDATORY Feedback Form Opens
Jan 15th Last day to provide feedback.

**Failure to fill out your feedback form will result in you being dropped to level 1 in the exchange or possibly even barred from entering next time. .**

So if we didn't participate in the July Christmas are we only able to use the lower level on the giving this year? If so it makes me very sad I was very busy around then and missed it and I always look forward to this every year . I understand and it will be fine but I'd be very sad if I'm not unable to go into higher levels for this Christmas

The June gift exchange was everyone's chance to enter at the level of their choice. Sorry, you missed out.

As someone who has a hard time gauging the worth of horses, how do we make sure what we're giving is enough/too much? I want to join in, but i want to make sure i have a good idea of what its going to entail so i can be a good gifter.

@VioletStables, I just commit to spending at least as much as my gifting level. People often sell horses for cheaper prices during Secret Santa, so you will most likely end up over-gifting if you use this method, but there's no harm in that! Other people might do it differently, but that is what works for me.

If you need help pricing you can always ask for someone to help you evaluate some horses. No such thing as too much. :)

The entry page only gives the option to enter level one. I'd like to do level 2.

You may only enter the levels you have qualified for. You have not qualified for anything but level 1. Once you prove yourself at level 1 you will be able to do level 2 next time.

@AgainstTheOdds - I had the same feeling as well... I was hoping to get into the second tier right away. It's ok though, I hope to be able to shower my giftees if they have room. :evil grin:

I was wondering why I can't enter into the sky limit one? I did everything needed and I believe I want above what was expected. I'm confused why I was rejected

It is very difficult to move up from level 2 to level 3 and very very few people moved up. It's not a rejection. They picked a few standouts to nominate for moving up. Level 2 is the main body of the exchange and where most members will participate.

ETA: Notes are kept exchange to exchange so solid effort on prior exchanges will reflect positively when looking on someone trying to move up for the next one.

@emmawarrior2004 It's our in game version of Secret Santa basically! Depending which level you qualify for (everyone starts at the first level and depending on how you do you can move up to the next level but you are never required to move up once you've been awarded access to the next level of gifting, which level you are in determines how high the value of the gifts are expected to meet) at the first level the gift value is supposed to be at least 25k hbs (you are always welcome to go above and beyond your levels minimum if you want but it is not required) and you are only expected to use in game money (hbs) for the gifts. This can be given in horses, straws, eggs, hbs etc. In the upper two gifting levels you'll sometimes even get closed gene licenses, pastures and things that could cost real money and not just game money on top of all the things you could get in level one as they have higher minimums. Mid level is 250k hbs and the top level and the hardest to make it into is the Skys The Limit on gifts.

You can find the entry form under the community tab in the section titled Gift Exchange.

We do one in the summer around HJs anniversary and the Yule/Winter one.

Will there be some notification or something for when it moves to the next part so I can make sure I check it on time? Will we get private messages with our person like before? Because honestly that was crucial for me.

Will there be a Santa's Helpers type thing we can volunteer for? I think I remember some members helping with giftees who fell through the cracks so to speak and I'd like to help with that this year if possible.

Wildland Acres the system is not the same as the old manually run one. I am still not sure what you mean by the private message but you will be shown all the info you need to give to your recipent.

If there is a need for make-up gifters I will recruit them near the end of the exchange from the level 3 gifter group.

This isn't terribly relevant atm, but I'd like to know for future reference. I'm in level 3 right now. I love giving as much and whatever I want, and I have extra funds irl, so it's a fun way to spend money :). My question is, what happens to my level if I skip a session? If an exchange comes around in June, can I skip participating if I don't have time and be okay, or will that bump me down to level 2? If I'm short on funds, could I sign up for one of the lower tiers and not lose access to 3?
Again, not relevant right now, just curious how the new system will run.

@DoubleMash2 we have till the end of today to make changes so if you go back to the page scroll down to your entry add in the stuff and then select Update Level you are good to go!

Hey Ammit, on both HJ1 and HJ2, I think there's some info missing - it looks like the screen was intended to show us our sent list requests, but all that is shown is:

@CoppiLane, they are out - if you click on the "Gift Exchange" line in the "Community" section of the menu, the entry form has been replaced with your recipient's wish list.

So I saw that there is a system for sending horses anonymously, but what if we want to send something else, like straws? Does the system accommodate that, or should we wait until we reveal and send it then?

@VioletStables I don’t think we’re able to send straws anonymously so you can either wait until reveal week or have a 3rd party send them on your behalf.

If my giftee has a gene license I don’t have I would need the help of another player to send horses with that gene instead of sending it through the system correct?

@MonsterCat, correct, because the game will prevent you from buying the horse in the first place. If you can't purchase the horse, you can't use the gift exchange function to send it to your giftee. (At least, that's how it worked in June.)

Not sure if the same gifter got me as a giftee from the summer gift exchange but my level 3 is showing that 30 horses have already been sent to me from my gifter (those had been received during the summer exchange and have been living in my barn for several months now lol)

Question: When I read the sign-up page it said we could submit a max of 2 entries so I put in entries to level 1 and 2 so I would have two people to give to. But I was only assigned a giftee for the second level. Was it a glitch, or are we only given one giftee?

@ShelteredShadows sounds like you tried to fill out both at the same time and only saved your level 2, so you are only entered in level 2.

This is my first year in the game, and my first participation in the gift exchange. I need to ask somebody for help understanding the gift request.

I'm not sure it's appropriate to post the request here on the forum, but I need help figuring it out. What should I do?

If I own a copy of the gene, and I want to make a rsg pony for my recipient, do copies of the license still transfer through the exchange or should I just sneak the edits on a horse they already own and not make that gift?

I was pretty sure I saved both because I went back days later and edited both entries because my lines had shifted, and it showed then that I had two entries and I updated and saved both. But if only one of them saved, that's fine. I'll just focus on spoiling my giftee.
