Pretty bad week
  • So this week has absolutely sucked. I was in a rear-end accident on Thursday. Guy was on his phone and thought we were going and went. He didn't have insurance. Thankfully our state is a no fault state. I've been in and out of L&D thanks to this guy. They took me in for monitoring on Thursday and I was discharged fairly quickly. Then Friday I started passing tissue. So back I went to L&D. Bub looks great and is pretty active. Girls are ok, we do have to replace their seats because Graco is so strict. It was just a minor accident and we were able to drive away. Technically we pass the 5 stage nhtsa qualifications for a minor crash but still have to replace them. Thats now 3 seats we have to buy. I'm still cramping due to severe dehydration because I was so focused on the girls that I hadn't had anything to eat or drink in 48 hours. My belly is still sore from how the belt caught me. Now I cant catch up. To be quite frank if Hazel hadnt been screaming because she pulled her chest clip down and it caught her in the belly i may have just ripped him out of his car. I saw red and immediately flew into a rage. I guess the thyroid condition + pregnancy hormones + someone putting my children in danger pushed me over the edge. I've kept going over my reaction and im having a hard time processing my reaction because I'm very much a pushover. That reaction wasn't like me. I'm having a very hard time with it all. :((
  • Can you get assistance on the car seats through any pregnancy centers in your area? The reaction is normal, especially as your kids were involved. There's a reason women are called 'mother bears'. ;) You've got a heads up on it now, and will be able to control it better the next time, hopefully you won't have a chance to test that theory.

  • You are totally normal to have that reaction! I even start mumbling to myself when I see someone getting close to my rear end when the kids are in the car, I am a complete mamma bear when my kiddos are involved.

I would definitely see if the WIC office or any local churches could help.

  • Thank you guys! We will be reaching out to police departments around us to see if any of them have seats, which was a suggestion from the officers. The insurance said send them the receipts if we buy new seats and they'll reimburse us. My dad has offered to help as well. It just sucks because we got really expensive seats as gifts that were supposed to last them until they were out of seats and the cheaper options on the market will have my 2 year old forward facing alot earlier than I'd want them to. But we have to get what we can at this point! I will also reach out to WIC and local churches too, I didnt even think of that! I really hope there will be no next time!

  • I'm so glad you are all ok. I haven't had to buy a car seat in ages, but I know replacing things can be a hassle. Kiss your girls for me and sneak off for a hot shower. You earned it.

  • Thank you Seaswell! I may end up calling out tomorrow as well because I'm still in so much pain in both my belly and my lower back. I've given them lots of love for you :) ill end up taking a hit for tomorrow but they'll have all my discharge papers from the hospital.
