Chimeric horse question. Genes, etc.
-
I know this horse is on Mesa, but figure it's good to ask here, since more people play on this server. That being said...I kmow one gene strand thingy (don't know the name), is the primary one. I've noticed that it seems the strand that covers most of body is the second one (or lower one, if you look at there genes per their page). Does anyone know which is actually the "primary" strand? I want to know before I start GMTing this horse or any similar horse and mess up my plans...

The primary strand is the top set of DNA, it has the copy of nd1. When you go into the GMT lab, the primary should be on top (called Sire 1 and Dam 1) and the secondary should be right below (called Sire 2 and Dam 2). If you do any RGS edits, the gene will be added on the same allele on both sets of DNA (so KitM from the RGS would be added to Sire 1 and Sire 2 OR Dam 1 and Dam 2).

@FallenShadows714, I now see it says which is primary, but that's not the one with ND1, so now I'm more confused.Love,

If I had read better, I would've seen that it already said which was primary. #-oLove,

Oh gosh, I meant to say the one with the nd1 was the secondary strand! Sorry for the confusion! But yes, besides that little mix-up everything else should be true. The Primary DNA strand matches up to the Sire 1 and Dam 1 DNA in the GMT lab
