Your breeding lines will thank you for the cull. I used to keep pretty horses too, but they did not produce anything but show ponies. Then Ammit introduced mare comparison! Wow, did my mares need the thinning that it brought on. Every horse I breed or buy gets the full testing now. All foals get it without even a look; truly, their picture doesn't get a chance to load before I click the Control tab.

I know the feeling. I got SBA not long aft Christmas. First I put every single stallion through. Most of my gen 2-4s survived but I lost everything above gen 5.
Then I began on the mares. I sba'd all my pressure aged gen 2-3 ladies and about half were spayed. Then I moved on to 4-5 gen and most were spayed. Nothing survived above gen 5. I was a little sad at first that I'd lost so many babies but then I remembered that I was short on space and i was still only getting blue papers by gen 6.
Eventually I realised I would have to go through my pastures too. I didn't want to loose my bonus so I clicked through indivdualy over 500 mares and tested them. I'd filled them mostly on random mares from auctions and a few bulk buys off other players. Many were either spayed on the spot or I marked them up as a filler to remove when I get a replacement.
Despite losing probably easily over 300 mares in the first month or so, I made so much HBs from throwingthem in the auction that I can just about forgive the brutality of the first SBA. Now a few months later I'm having less babies fail SBA which I am assuming because their parents are of better quality. It was hard to begin with but i feel it's worth it in the long run.
I've also just started to use comp testing on my boot stallions. They all get she'd from the pasture and out of 50ish boys, I'm usually lucky to get 1 or 2 pass sba. My first that passed sba a few months ago produced a superior to sire baby and an aga baby this season so it really does show!

I only have 140(used to be 100 lol) slots in pasture for mares so most of my breeding is by hand. My boots take the big pasture, and a select few from different lines go into my 4 10ac pastures so I have a good few that are getting bonus. The rest I do myself.
I really do need to go through and chunk some of these spelds in auction. I have 5 Mega barns, 3.5 are full of spelds. Thinking I'll cut down on my ones that aren't showing up to par and slowly buy smaller barns for mares to shuffle them out of the big barn where they pretty much get lost lol.
