He's very pretty. Sadly he is extremely uneven. Because he's so uneven I would have him gelded. But you could always use him to breed flashy show ponies. You'll have to snip all his offspring though.

No need to snip foals if you breed to similar quality horses, just like breeding third gen to third gen, or second gen to second gen, or C horses to foundations. If he was a mare from such a cross, it might be more of a hassle than it's worth, but breeding evenly is so you know the breeding quality of the parents, and we know his breeding quality roughly by his paper. I wouldn't breed him to anything other than second gen though, unless he urns out to be low B, then with all the B foundation studs out here now I see now problem with breeding to foundation mares. The key is breeding similar quality together, and since he doesn't have a generation, he is not limited to that mindset.

Super uneven as both posters have said. I would disagree with Color Good in that he has a pretty low PT and generally low (gen 2) breeding quality so unless you want to breed him to really nicely bred high generation mares, you aren't going to get show ponies that are worth much as points producers out of him. I would completely disregard that option as it would be a major waste of high quality upper gen mares.

I basically agree with Wildland in that both his PT and his paper indicate he's roughly a gen 2 quality stallion. If you really want to breed him, I would follow her suggestion of breeding him to gen 2 mares for a couple seasons and see what you get. If the line isn't improving--significantly higher PT scores for the foals, some colts Papering A, both assuming you're upgraded to do those tests--I would snip him for washing out as a sire. Even if he does produce some nice foals, you should be prepared for people not wanting to buy into his line or breed from him or his offspring because of the uneven pedigree.

Thankfully he was not a particularly expensive purchase! Clearly the new system is working!

I might try for a couple of foals next season that I will keep. Will see how he goes :)
