Premium upgrades now have access to bulk renaming. This feature allows you to add prefixes, suffixes, or completely replace names of horses, up to 1000 at a time. The number sign (#) will be replaced with the ID number and using a combination of at and asterisk (@*) will insert a random word from the word list. You do not need to use @* in the name at all if you do not want, and there is a limit of three random words per name.

Names made by the generator have a limit of 30 characters instead of the normal 25. If you edit these names later they will be trimmed to 25 characters.

This system is still in Beta and may produce some undesirable names. There are some 10,000 words in the system derived from lists of common English words. Not surprisingly some of the most common words are the most "fun to say." ;) If any words pop up that are inappropriate for the generator please let me know below. There will probably be a more horsey name style random list option in the future as well but the random word list is what we are starting out with.

The button DOES work. If it does nothing for you and/or you do not see a box around the bulk testing option you will have to clear your cache.

Several bulk upgrade features that should have been Premium only where available by mistake. These have been fixed.

Is there a way to include a space when using this function? I'm thinking in terms of using it for adding prefixes or suffixes to horses already named.

Example: If I'd like to go through and add a prefix on horses that already have been named it would be great to select them and then use the function to add 'Prl' infront of their name but as it currently sits it would be PrlJohnny Boy when I wish it would be Prl Johnny Boy. Does that make sense?

I'd also like to add that I seriously love the new name generator and for replacing names it is working flawlessly for me. I'd like to add this gem of a name to the list of questionables...

I think this one might be a hygiene problem...or people have questionable taste in undergarments... :))

@Ren, I think you can. You can edit the name after the game creates it. I had one named Rebate Saturday (my Blue Axiom mare), and I changed Rebate to Blue, so now she's Blue Saturday. It helps me remember she's my Blue Axiom foundation, but also gives her a cool name.

@SpryOfJune - I realize that I can edit the name after the fact but was hoping to do it with the name editor itself. It somewhat defeats the purpose of it when using it for large masses of horses. I may as well just open the page and edit them all by hand anyway if that's the case. ;)

Edit: Oh wait, are you saying you used the name editor to just change that one word to another? If so, how did you do it and keep the spacing?

Just use the before or after mode for prefixes and suffixes.

ETA: I see what you mean, it was trimming the extra spaces which was a bug. I have fixed it now.

@Ren, I just deleted her whole name with #, then put in the editor @* @* and then afterwards edited the first part once I realized I preferred "Blue" there.
But in bulk naming, I could see that being an issue.

The top section is a bunch of acronyms. Some of the others are just not great sounding/have not so great implications (I don't mind them but I know we have younger players on here).
Then there are these 3 that have pretty dirty names:

NaF Theories Bufing

NaF Nutten Fraser
These 2 are both sexual slang. First horse second word, second horse first word (but also a name of a football player if spelled with an umlaut).

So we are clear you can report specific words that should not be there but random combinations of words are not going to be prevented. It's a random word generator after all.

If you could remove anything from a both that is you reporting a combination instead of a specific word that would be super helpful. Thanks!

Bufing is also a company/surname. I have found it to be pulling quite a few names.

Ok, please ignore the two big posts and I would say that just the 3 in my last post have questionable words.

I Googled any of the words I didn't know and found Xnxx is the name of a porn website. Bufing and Nutten both brought up Urban/Slang dictionary entries with sexual definitions (Nutten with an umlaut is a name).
