Thank you all
  • I usually try to get my Thank you post out the day after Christmas, but this year my real life went...well, it's pretty deep in the pits now so I haven't been on as much as I'd hoped. But I refuse to let the year end on a bad note, so here we go.

@DixieDarlinStables, thank you for being such an amazing Secret Santa. I was absolutely floored with all of the amazing horses and straws and the thought and care you put into each horse astounds me. Your gift of Thunderstruck was easily the best, helping me through the loss of my friend, but every little gift meant the absolute world to me. You were hands down spectacular and I will treasure every gift for as long as they live.

@pestilenttempest, @FireFrostFarms, and everyone that sent me straws, eggs, or horses from my SS, thank you. There were so many new straws I couldn't keep them all straight, but I appreciate them all, as well as the time you took to send them and your willingness to sell. I know many people prefer to guard their lines and keep them in-house, so your willingness to share should not be overlooked.

@Looper, @ThreePdressage, @HTRanch, @Flying Stunner, @BlackWyld, thank you all for sending my SS straws and horses. Special thanks to BlackWyld for playing elf for me. Without all of you, SS this year would have been way more stressful, bordering on impossible. I am deeply grateful for all of your generosity and willingness to help.

@CeffylDwr, at the beginning of the year I lost two coworkers to a car accident, and you sent me to Axiom eggs to make memorial horses for them. It still eases some pain when I see their horses or the foals I've gotten from them, and that wouldn't be possible without you. Thank you so much.

@LairRua, when I was trying to build a herd of Perlino mares for my Alpha Rough Rider you rolled a true Perlino HH and sent them all to me to help me out. Thank you.

@FallenShadows714, @MariaChapinFarm3, @GallifreyanAngel, @Cheers, when I was having a very rough time I asked for sunrises, and I got flooded with pictures of new days captured in horse form. You four sent some of your sunny horses to live with me, and I cannot count how many days they have helped me get through. Even today, seeing those horses makes me smile, and it was all thanks to your kindness and love.

Last, but definitely not least, thank you Ammit for making this game. It might sound like an over exaggeration, but somedays it is this game and the people in it that help me live another day. The people on this game, by being kind and open and honest, have given me the hope to choose to not take my life after dark periods. And your own kindness is not forgotten; I will never forget that you gave me my first closed gene on a horse I made that was the first to save my life. He has been a beacon in my dark times ever since, and it's all because of you. Of this game you made and this community you grew.

2019 has been very hard on me. I have lost friends, coworkers, my cat, and many times my hope. I've never felt more alone, more cut off, or more hopeless. It's the people in this game, this community, that has seen me through some of the hardest points in my life to date. I am alive today because of you, and there are no words that can accurately sum up how much you all mean to me. I'll have to settle for two.

    Thank you.
  • Aww lovely! Always happy to help you see a pretty sunrise. My favorite quote of all time, which I hope will be on my gravestone someday in the far far future, is “Full many a glorious morning have I seen” from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 33. If you read the sonnet, it basically refers to a day that dawns bright but becomes cloudy, and how Shakespeare misses the beautiful sun but does not disparage it for going behind the clouds. While many interpretations equate the Sun here with the “Fair Youth” (likely a young male lover) of earlier sonnets, my favorite interpretation is that this is an ode to his young son who died in his teens, much too early. I think it is a particularly lovely tribute to a child lost in their youth, expressing regret at the loss but also joy for the time they had. I don’t have children of the 2 legged variety, but I do understand loss, grief and the process by which you manage to slowly come to a place where thinking of those now gone can bring warm feelings of love as well as the sadness. Hope your new year brings you closer to that point in the cycle and you find much joy, love and beauty in your year to come.
  • I'm glad you have found shelter here, ShelteredShadows! Remember that no mater how dark the night is, the sun always, always, ALWAYS comes up in the morning. Joy, peace, and strength to you in the new year!
