I am completely failing as a mom
  • So I decided to try to stop their tylenol reliance cold Turkey because they were using it to sooth at night. They were showing no signs of the next teeth due to come in, which is the canines. So we just stopped buying it. And what do you know! Sophia decided to spite us and pop out a couple of molars and with the beta blocker all she can have is tylenol, nothing with lidocaine or related. So we had no tylenol on hand when we needed it. Hazels growing something but I have no clue what but Sophia's molar was half way in before I noticed :(( then last night the girls started telling us where our noses are and I took my hand off Sophia for literally two seconds to grab something while finishing up changing her and she rolled off the changing table :(( I turned around to catch her because I heard her start to and missed :(( I feel horrible, thankfully his aunt, their great-aunt, is a RN and checked her over. Thankfully she had her helmet on! And to top it off christmas is sparce for everyone this year, we weren't able to get them much and a pay-it-forward group helped with a few things so they have something more than a blanket, pajamas, and movies to open. But it hurts that I had to reach out to people to help with presents for the girls :((
  • I am not a mum but most my friends are and my sister has produced 6 children of which I helped with 4 as babies before she moved across the country and I can honestly say this does not make you a failure, every new mum I have ever met has done something similar. Deep breaths mama bear you are doing fine and it's clear you love your girls more than anything.
    Dabbler in EVERYTHING.

  • Breath. It is ok. You are not failing. Stress and anxiety as a parent can be just awful.

My son pulled that roll off the table maneuver as well! He’s now almost 12. I think they all do it lol! You responded perfectly and had her checked out-so you did the good mom response to an accident!

And please do not feel ashamed for needing a bit of help. That’s something these days that many people could benefit for-life is expensive and times are just rough for many. I think it’s a beautiful thing when the people who have extra reach out and help others up. As a single mom I had quite a few christmases that were very tight. A couple years in a row my boss “Santa”’d my son for me, I just couldn’t do much and I appreciated the treat for him.
But really..all our kids really want from us is time and love.
I hope you are able to be gentle with yourself and have a wonderful holiday with your family.

  • I'm fairly certain every parent has had a child roll off something and/or dropped their children. My dad dropped me on the bed and i bounced off onto the floor when i was a baby. I turned out pretty well! :P

As far as reaching out to others for presents... as a child, we were poor but i didn't realize until much older. A few years i remember being exited when "The Bag" was dropped off. It wasn't until i was talking it at 24ish when my mum told me that my dad couldn't afford to get us anything for a few Christmases and we were given presents from Salvation Army. I don't remember what any of those presents were, but i remember that my dad made sure he was home every Christmas (he was annover the road truck driver). So don't worry about that stuff, they'll know you were there and that's what is important.

  • Thank you guys! I'm really struggling with this. I feel so horrible. I'm just happy shes ok. We had to take off her helmet due to swelling where the bottom of the helmet sits. I'm hoping we'll be able to get it back on her tomorrow.
  • Sweet girls, they grow so fast. Bumps and bruises are a very normal part of life. I'm glad everyone is ok. Keep up the good work.

I saw my niece and nephew today after not watching her for a month and a half. She's doing steps and will be full walking anytime now. She needed all the cuddles after nap.... Someone remind me I wanted to retire from daycare!

  • Those baby cuddles are the best @Seaswell!
  • My mom accidentally kicked me down the stairs in my baby carseat - I rolled all the way down to the bottom and didn't get hurt at all! Babies are pretty tough little cookies.

You are doing fantastic. Don't compare yourself to others. Like someone else said - I don't remember even half of the gifts I received as a kid (and I only got one or two presents every Christmas) but I do remember laughter and love and all the people who I care about and who care about me together enjoying the holiday. You have a beautiful family and you are doing a wonderful job loving your girls. Hugs!
