Hello!

I know this isn't really a "technically oriented" group, but I have yet for advice from here to lead me astray, and now this is my default place to ask for advice.

I'm sure the whole story will come out as I talk about it in the thread, but my Mom is getting me a new phone for Christmas! I have had iphones at least 5 years now. Probably more. I have an iphone5 now. But I have issues with my phone, most are annoying but I can deal with them. But the main problem is when I share location with my Mom (who has a samsung) it never works. Which is kinda scary when I'm out riding Lexi (my mare) all by myself.

There's some remarkably good deals out right now for a Google Pixel A3. Has anyone ever had it? Good/Bad/Indifferent?

The main thing that I'm worried about is whether or not I can get a case that is just as strong as the one I have on my current phone. I have otterbox and its been ridden over, driven over, and my step mom once lost hers from the top of her car on the highway.

The other concern is I want to get as big as I can and still fit comfortably in my pocket while I am riding.

Does anyone know how to take all of my contacts and pictures and stuff and transfer it to the new phone? On iphone it seems to happen automatically but I don't know when the phone is iphone.

I have a Google pixel. I love it. I just have a regular case, but I haven't had any issues.

I know with Android you sync your contacts and photos to your Gmail account for transfer, though I've never had an iPhone I believe it works the same way.

Just got the new phone a few minutes ago! LOVE it! No case yet. Was going to get the standard phone but got the XL instead. At the store I put the defender otterbox in my pocket and I think its bigger than I really wanted. Don't know what to do. I haven't dropped my phone in a year or two. But.....

Thanks for the gmail account tip. Going to go see if I can figure that out.

Definitely put some kind of case on if riding with it. I have a rugged phone for the reason of working in a barn. I went through way too many phones and screens within a few years. Current phone is a Cubot Quest, so IP68 waterproof with Gorilla glass. For riding I like an armband or flip belt over in my pocket, as I've had phones fall out of my pocket when my horse acts up. Have fun with your new phone!
