Let's talk about merging
-
So I mixed my 3 big accounts a little bit ago. I'm really loving the ease of having all my toys in one place, and because of culling my show line has exploded giving me all the monies. The thing is I kept my Cherry Drop Dreams off by themselves.
Here's my dilemma. If I put off buying another show barn this rollover I can afford to eat that account too.
Do I want to have everything in this account, or will I loose focus on those rich red wild bays with fun accent genes? I know if I merge DejaRea it will not keep me from starting another account next time I fall in love with a gene combination. This I know, but how hard is it really to actually do separate lines in one account?
Give me some feedback?45120 -
I can do separate lines because I have a pasture for each line at each generation. Stallions and replacement fillies grow out in one barn per generation, all lines mixed together in the barn.
That said, I have WAY too many horses and always stall out around gen 4 because my focus is to scattered... -
I'd love to add at least 2 more 60 pastures. It's not in the budget right now, but I have been having a lot of fun rotating through my two small pastures. Not as much bonus going on, but still pretty good survival rates.
I think my biggest concern is I'd really need to go through and rename my cherry drop dreams before I actually merge. A simple prefix, but 4 generations of ooh pretty.
...or I could buy a barn. A big lovely half empty barn just waiting for more show ponies.
Yet the cost of merging continues to rise.
It's driving me loopy, because it's goals are so different, but I want access to like 2 studs.45120 -
A good prefix system will help keep all your lines separate and group together the ones you want to stand apart.
On hj1 I have KP, axiom, nexus and plaid my prefixes keep everyone apart and sorted by generation and I can easily keep track of my kp and keep it separate from the fantasy’s for ease of identifying it in the breeders club.
Also I’ve had good luck buying pastures with game money here you just have to offer a competitive rate for another player to purchase oneBreeding even generation Grullos with Ice -
When I joined my two main accounts I didn’t even try to keep both lines going. I literally scraped my Liver Line and sold all of the breeding stock 1st gen to my handful of 6g horses. However I do have 2 lines on my account now my Black line and a Nexus line. My Nexus line is limited to a 30 stall barn so it won’t get out of hand, and it isn’t too hard to manage both lines.
However several things that made my decision for me on scraping my Liver line. I knew I don’t have enough time to spend managing 2 huge lines. I don’t spend RL money on the game so that limits me to one pasture (I haven’t tried to have another player buy one for me yet). And a few other little things, I can’t remember now. -
I have a lot of different genes and combinations, and don't mind them mixing for the most part. However a good prefix and/or tattoo system makes it easy enough to keep lines separate. I personally have enough trouble keeping track of one account here and one on blugrass

So, I spent all my savings to make my bronze age boy perfect because I still haven't decided if I'm up to the task of doing a premerge sort on my cherry drop dreams.
In other words I will probably get most of it done tonight...
Looking at numbers I need to not spend cash on this account for 12 days to pull it off. Sure wish h&j wasn't where I stress shop. :D So I think I can do it by next rollover if I take a season off breeding the smaller account, and focus on getting the good breeders renamed. I have enough barn space I will only have to make room for my primary barn, and that might be worth buying premove.45120
