Expiring straws and eggs?
-
I have a warning I have straws and eggs going to expire but how do I figure out which ones are going to? I don't want to lose any but didn't know I had any with expirations.
-
Go to Advanced Breeding Lab -> Sell A Straw.
Bring down the drop down bar that lists all of your straws. The format should look like this: [Horse Name] (number of straws) Expiry number
If the number is 5, the straw/egg does not have an expiry date.
If 4, you have 4 seasons left with it. If 3, you have 3 season left, and so on and so forth. The ones where the number is 1 will be the ones about to expire.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable.

Do I have until the end of this month to use all 5 of these straws? This is how it looks in the drop down list on straws: 1 Phantom OfTheOpera (5) -1y. He is deceased, and I have other stallions that I use now. If I leave it as is then all five should disappear?Thanked by 1Summervine

Hmmm I wonder why some of these are expiring, they are ones from my own stallions and I never set an expiration? Do they all automatically expire after a certain amount of time, if so I need to stop saving so many straws when my boys are aging out lolThanked by 1Summervine

If the horse has no living descendants their straws will expire, to unclutter the archive.ID 108

Ah, thanks Maribo.
-
yeah, I'm having the same problem. I have a straw that is set to expire at the end of this month, even though the owner of the horse didn't set an expiration and it has a living foal.
-
@MariaChapinFarm3 Like I said above, if the horse has no living descendants, the straws will expire, to declutter the archive. If you make embryos of them, they will no longer be expiring.ID 108
-
Maribo- they HAVE descendants, I said that. I made embryos anyway, but I'm still confused as to why they were expiring in the first place.
-
Not sure what the exact situation here is, but I believe expiring straws/eggs will still expire if a foal from the donor horse is born after the timer starts.
For example, let's say I have 5 straws from stallion X that have been automatically set to expire (because the stallion is deceased and has no living descendants). If I use one of those straws and keep the resulting foal it won't change the status of the remaining 4 straws, even though stallion X now has a living descendant. They will still expire on the same date.
Hopefully that made sense.ID# 47068

Such a bummer I didn't see that they would expire until breeding was almost over. O well, guess I need to go through the rest and make sure everyone has at least one living descendant so I don't lose more!
