Show Pony Give Away Time
-
I bred my Bootstrap Herd this season for the first time in a while and got some amazing PTs from it (yay!) buuuut..... I goofed and put the foals through SBA instead of BA so I ended up with nearly 200 new show foals just from that batch....oops...
My mistake is your gain, because that pretty much fills the hole in my show barns! I’m running my usual show pony give away again.
As usual, the rules are pretty simple. Fill out the entry form below, pick up ponies promptly (Cheers Elf Room) and please don’t immediately throw them in the auction for the quick profit. I will do my best to mostly get you ponies under 11 years old with at least 500 points, but the more special stuff you ask for the fewer ponies you may get with tons of points already. I will leave ponies up for you for a week, if you don’t pick up in that time frame you and they will be removed from the buddy chat. One entry per account but if you own multiple accounts, each of them can enter. Each entry will receive 5 show ponies.
My book, audiobook and podcast addiction continues but I’m starting to run out of things I’ve already got queued up to listen to or read. I particularly like fantasy and adventure style books, or else nonfiction that still manages to tell a good story. Suggestions are not required but are very much appreciated!
As from last time, it would be awesome if you would post one or two of your new show ponies all glammed up with your favorite tack packs! I love seeing what y’all do with them!

For show horses I just like them shiny and spotted in some way.
I've been delving into Stephen King lately but he's not everyones cup of tea. Fantasy wise Mercedes Lackey, Robin McKinley, Lynn Flewelling, Neil Gaimen, Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher and Jacqueline Carey are some of my go tos besides the standard JK Rowling, CS Lewis and JR Tolkien.
Dabbler in EVERYTHING. -
Cheers, I am sending you a PM!

Up for you two.
Belenus I have read some Hamilton stuff and am not completely sure how much I like it...I love the idea of such a bada$$ chick lead character but the Anita Blake stuff is more about the romance/sex than the creature fights...
Ceffyl I don’t think I’ve read any Lynn Flewelling or Jacqueline Carrey so I will add them to my list.

I welcome all show horses! Haha! Thanks for doing this..
We were just on a long car ride and finished up a podcast called "Sandra." It was pretty good!Thanked by 1Cheers -

I like grullo horses, so if you have any of those that'd be amazing!
I've read a few things by Greg Bear that I really enjoyed - some are more sci-fi and some're more fantasy, but the ones I've read were good!ID 49863 | Breeding wild bay drafts with TE & SNF | Muddling my way through bootstrappingThanked by 1Cheers -

I adore any warp/axiom crosses, or ice 2/10 show guys. I’m super bummed I missed those two last month.
Lately I’ve been on a Michael Crichton kick, and I’m awaiting the arrival of the George RR Martin book Fire and Blood.Thanked by 1Cheers -

Would love axiom or wrong warp, but really just happy to get show ponies!
Audible had a couple of Alien-universe exclusive that are done like radio plays with a cast and sound effects. I highly recommend them.Thanked by 1Cheers -

Prefer riding horses or warmbloods so I can dress them up all prettiful.
Have you tried the Dark Tower saga by Stephen King? Not his typical work, good fantasy and adventure elements, lots of listening time.~Purveyor of the finest riding horses in Rakia~

Love Snowflake, Kit M and Liver but not picky. :) Thank you for offering ponies!
I second C.S. Lewis and Tolkien! Robert Frost and Robert Burns are wonderful to listen to as well for poetry.
Katherine Kerr made a great fiction series based on Welsh/Celtic history and mysticism.
There's also the Redwall series and all things Mark Twain, Amy Tan and Lois Lowry along with The Book Thief, Bean Trees, Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, The Good Earth, The Bread Givers, Angela's Ashes and Shanghai Girls (Lisa See).
The Circle Series by Ted Dekker is well done but you have to pay close attention to follow plot twists.
Band of Brothers and Schindler's List are heavy but fantastic nonfiction narratives.Thanked by 1Cheers -

Mushroom, Watercolor, Pearl
I really like to listen to Josh Peck's Podcast and David Dobrik & Jason Nash podcasts.

Any gene or body type requests (still no snowflake!)? I’ll love anything, but I think Ice 9 is lovely.
Any reading/listening suggestions? Right now I’m listening to The Leage series by Sherrilyn Kenyon, her story line is good and has a lot of depth, but they’re very mushy romantic books. I skip some of the mush because it’s just too much for me.
Scarlet Series by A. C. Gaughen is a very good series of books starting with Scarlet. I don’t know if there is an audio version of it, but it’s one of the best I’ve read in a long time.
Sara J. Maas is an incredible author, everything by her so far have been spectacular.
Green Rider by Kristen Britain is also a good book/series. It has horses in it :xThanked by 1Cheers -

No gene or body requirements
Honestly, the only podcast that comes to mind is Welcome To Nightvale. As for books, I would definitely recommend Gifts by Ursula K LeGuinn!ID - 22087

Sorry everybody, the whatever certificate from the server migration hasn’t updated for my home WiFi and it’s been slammed at work here today. I will try to get everybody set up to this point before I head back home but until that certificate updates I may lag a bit behind for a few days!

Any reading/listening suggestions?
I am really enjoying S. A. Chakraborty's Daevabad series, though only the first two books are out (The City of Brass, and The Kingdom of Copper)
Someone above mentioned Jacqueline Carey, and she's great. If you don't like sexy stuff, maybe steer clear of the Kushiel's Legacy series, but I've been reading her latest, Starless, and really enjoying it. (I've noticed that every time her story is ready for a new beat, she takes them to a new location -- especially in her earlier books -- but if you like world building, that's not necessarily a bad thing!)Thanked by 1Cheers -

Up for everybody! Thanks so much for your recommendations—I will do some looking around on Audible and the library website this weekend to stock back up my collection. Also thanks to those who have posted dressed up ponies! I don’t tend to have time to mess around with tack besides a background most of the time so it’s fun to see them with saddles and bridles and lots of other fun stuff!Thanked by 1HomeSweetHome

I don't have any requests, I love surprises and your horses are beautiful!
I recently read News of the World by Paulette Jiles. It's set during the American pioneer time period and it's about an old man who is attempting to return a German girl kidnapped by the Kiowa to her family. The writing is top notch!
EDIT - Thank you, Cheers! Here they are all dressed up!

Any gene or body type requests (still no snowflake!)? I would love some buckskins or classic champagne horses! Drafts preferably.
Any reading/listening suggestions?
I just discovered it - but have you heard of the Iron Druid series? It is on Audible, and is hilarious!
Do you watch Stranger Things? Turns out they have companion stories! It's so amazing! They had "Runaway Max" on audio on my digital library "Overdrive". It was very enlightening, and reasonably short.
Are you a Harry Potter fan? Do you ever read fanfiction? It is slightly more mature than I would have gotten myself into, but it is the Harry Potter series with all of the issues in the series in my mind gone! I had to pull a little bit of suspension of disbelief in the beginning, but later I was literally addicted... and I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing, but it is really long. Even me reading it every spare minute in the mornings and evenings it took me a full week to read it.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7413926/1/Chasing-The-Sun
And finally I'm assuming you've listened to Janet Evanovich's stephanie plum series on audiobook? They are HILARIOUS. The narrator for the first few is only OK, but oh well.
Another book that is a bit unique is "I Hunt Killers". It is a 3 book series, but the first book is the best and they do steadily decline after that.
Have you read all of the books in the Ender's Game universe? There's quite a few that are good.
And again another one nothing like the other books I listed is Amy Duboff's "Cadicle Series" (not to be confused by a cadicle series written by a man)
I bought the whole series on kindle for like 99 cents or something like that. It is very good, but I personally very liked it, and made a book report on it. It's also quite long. It's very unique, and it has a format that I've never seen before. The entire series takes place over a 70 year span!Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.

A couple more authors i thought of!
If you haven't read R.A. Salvatore, I recommend literally any of his books. Also, there's an author, C.J. Cherryh, who wrote a neat trilogy based on Russian folklore - the first book is Rusalka. I think she writes other fantasy novels as well!ID 49863 | Breeding wild bay drafts with TE & SNF | Muddling my way through bootstrapping -
