The only thing missing for it to become a proper WE set is the Xairel, the fur behind the saddle. You are actually not allowed to compete without it

Yes, the fur had two important functions, the best one is of course to provide a comfortable place for the women to sit, if they want to ride together on a horse.
You can still see the tradition today in the Golegã fair in November, as it is a nice way to flirt. The boys ride out in the evening, and when they see a girl they like (or a girl see a boy they like), they will offer them to ride "a garoupa", to sit on the croup of the horse. Then they will spend the night riding together, drink wine and abofadinhas, listen to the musicians and ride from pub to pub.
During the fair, they have special restaurants and pubs where you can ride on your horse and have a drink and something small to eat on horseback with your friends.

The other practical use is to protect the rider's jacket from the sweat from the horses and to keep the sensitive part of the back of the horse warm during the stormy and cold winter.

It is easy to miss the fur unless you know about it. I had never heard about it before I moved to Portugal :)

Wow They're awesome! Do the tack packs come back to you to reuse when the horse passes though? :) Not something I'd want to lose accidentally if I forget to remove it.

@Looper tack packs are made available for you to use on any horse. You only have to buy the tack pack once and you will have access to those items on your account forever.

@Looper, I mean, if you want to fit on everything you possibly could, he could have a shaffron on and the leatger snaffle reins. they take a higher spot on the bridle and won't overlap the ornate reins. :) But he looks good! :D

@Malaayna2 I get where the name came from, I'm just thinking about the general rule of appropriateness. I don't know, what does @Ammit think?
