I'm curious...
-
I love seeing everyone's unique names, and I'm curious as to the inspiration for them. My name, ApollosLegacy, is a homage to my dog who passed away
10-14-2015. His registered name was EMs Apollo Creed, he was a European Doberman. Our family had dogs before, but he was my first dog who I bought myself. I'm a vet tech, and was in school when I got him, so he always went to school with me lol. He was only 7 years old when I found that he had tennis ball sized lumps under his jaw. I took him to work with me and had my doctor look at him. We did tissue biopsies and two days later we got the reports... he had cancer. We started him on medications that kept him comfortable but the cancer he had (lymphoma) was fast spreading and 6 weeks to the day, my baby boy was gone. I got my boy, Thor, a couple months later, but he will never replace Apollo. Thor saved me, I had some seriously not okay thoughts after having Apollo euthanized and Thor gave me a reason to keep going. I decided I needed to live a life that Thor needed me to live and honor Apollo by remembering his life and giving him a legacy he would be proud of. He would always sit beside me and watch when I played horse games on the computer or Playstation, and sometimes went to riding lessons with me, so when I joined here, I thought of him. He would have definitely have been with me always here too, so ApollosLegacy I became!! Thor means the world to me too, but Apollo will always have a special place in my heart!! Heck!! I even have a tattoo to memorialize his life lol. Okay, well that's the "why" behind my name lol. If you want, maybe share the "why" behind your name... and remember there is no judgement at all, I don't usually talk about Apollo cause it makes me cry, but I love and trust this community and wanted to share my sweet boy with everyone.Breeder of the tallest drafts -
Wow, now mine feels rather shallow!
Obsidian is one of my most favourite rock, the other being Opal. Then they all kind of fall in together in no order. I did actually make a second account called OpalKistune at one point, but that one got swallowed by my main
Kitsunes are my second favourite mythical creature, but they're a very close second to Dragons.
I usually use a combination of those four names (Obsidian/Opal/Dragon/Kistune) when making online names.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
Prices are almost always negotiable.

@ObsidianKitsune that's really cool!! I've always wondered about your name lol I have never heard of Kitsunes so that's really interesting. Thank you so much for sharing...sorry mine is kinda morbid... my animals mean the world to me...literally lol. I like animals more than most people...Breeder of the tallest drafts

Animals do mean a lot but there are ones you will never forget. I'm sorry about your boy, thank you for sharing him with us!
My SweetGlow account is named after my two horses. Dallas' registered name is Our Sweetness (Not sure who came up with that one, it's girly as all getout and "sweet" is not in his grumpy-pants personality). Zip's registered name is Mister Zip N Glow. Ahhh, the nonsensical Quarter Horse names. But I use SweetGlow to bootstrap snowflakes in memory of Rose, a mare I rode when I lived in another state. My tattoos on that account are all roses in memory of her.ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)

Confluence comes from the fact that I live in St. Louis, at the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers.Thanked by 1FollysFantasies
-
It's part of my name and a play on my brothers Assassin's Creed name. :)
-
Kintara is my real life stud name for the Gypsy Cobs I breed. I chose it randomly one night however when I needed to send in the paperwork for prefix registration. I was reading one of the early Wheel of Time books, and for memory there was some Kintara hills in there somewhere, I liked the sound of it so that's what I put on my paperwork as first choice LOL!Thanked by 1FollysFantasies

I breed Akitas in RL and Firebrand is my kennel name and prefix.
On my other account, LairRua is Irish for “red mare” it’s a homage to my past sim game account I played 10 years ago where I also bred Irish Cobs before that game went defunct. Initially I chose red mare because I have red hair and had a sorrel mare when i was growing up.ID#43150 | she/her

Beadingterri has been my nickname for a long time. I make all kinds of beaded items, especially jewelry. I also make Christmas ornaments and home decor items. I also design custom pieces like dreamcatchers, miniature trees, flowers and pentacles.
And Amber comes from my favorite book series by Roger Zelazny called The Chronicles of AmberThanked by 1FollysFantasies -
Mine is pretty simple, I've been driving trucks for 15yrs and a Kenworth W900 was the first truck I drove. It literally took acres to turn the darn thing around and park it at the truck stops lol. It taught me how to drive, that's for sure :)
-
Dinascar was my first pet - a beautiful tabby. Dinascar comes from Tolkien's elvish Din (meaning silent) and Ascar (meaning river).
I used to have ChilliFireFarms where Chilli was my second cat (also a tabby).
DinaChill is both combined (my bootstrap account).
Chillax was from Chilli but also obviously a relaxing theme. I only noticed recently there is another account called Chilax so I will be either merging Chillax after I get established or I will change her name. :)Breeding brown/liver/black with white spotting drafts. GraveDancer is one of my favorite geckos that I own. He will be bred next year when he is of age and weight.
And I've always found graveyards and dead things very interesting. So it's a mix of the two lol -
I am so sorry about Apollo ,I understand what you went through. I lost my American Staffordshire Sabra in 2009. Not a day goes by I dont think of her. My heart goes out to you.
Im not really sure why i chose SmokinBlack other than i had at the time just gotten a rescue Black overo mare in foal, when I started the accounts. My first true Black she was, i since rehomed her and the foal which came out also true black splash with a blue eye. My first actual account Blueaintyourcolor was from the song, it was my late Fiance favorite to me. I played it for him in his last hours. I know he heard it. :) -
I love reading name origin stories! They are so much fun : )
My first account is Riata (Ree-Ought-Ah), inspired by my dog's middle name. Riata is the Americanized form (aka mis-spelling) of Reata, which is a lariat/lasso. Katie Riata (or Tatie Pinata, as my little brother calls her) was given her middle name by an old friend from Texas. My breed name, Bluebonnet, is the beautiful state flower of Texas. All of my Lp spotty butts carry the prefix TX in their name. My goal is to breed beautiful horses, especially appaloosas with snowflake.
Alohomora developed a few months later, when I wanted to "unlock the door" to other genes that (in my opinion) show up better without Lp, especially duns, champagnes, cream/pearl, and silver roans. It is important to pronounce Alohomora in Hermione Granger's voice ; )
My breed name, Accio (Ack!-ee-oh), is a spell to "summon" all the pretty ponies! I collect Rank Specials and Watercolor show ponies here. Last Christmas, thanks to some very wonderful friends, I started collecting closed genes, too, which often get placed on my RS. I have lots of tattoos for specific genes, but as a general identifying marker across my account, I love the grooming bolt quarter mark. I have been known to plead "Accio this gene" to the goddess Arengee when breeding for specific foals. Sometimes, the goddess smiles down on me... and sometimes, she just laughs.
As Alohomora has grown, I find that appaloosas often manage to clip-clop their way over here, too. While I envision Riata as a big ranch spread out over thousands of acres in Texas, Alohomora is more of a rainbow-colored cave filled with sparkles and lots of treasures. Inside the cave lives a glittering dragon who loves collecting shiny gene trinkets and mixing them together in her mad scientist laboratory.
I also have a basic account called Quicksilver, with Mercurial horses, which is still in development. Quicksilver is often used on my other gaming accounts. It's an homage to my myriad of medical issues, especially EDS. Mercury is alluring to play with, but be careful when handling, because it can be hazardous to your health!
Looking for Appaloosas? Check out my Riata account.
You matter to me!
You are valued, you are important, and you are loved! ❤️Thanked by 1FollysFantasies -
Haltanny was my very first horse and my "heart horse". I got him when i was going through some major mental health issues (severe undiagnosed PTSD) and even though i only had him 11 months, he changed my world. I know for a fact that i would not be alive right now if it hadn't been for him. Hal was a purebred registered Arabian stallion, near 50% Crabbet breeding. His registered name was NL Haltanny, sired by HMR Haltanny who was linebred to Halanny Mistanny.#28036

Many moons ago, I was a teenager just starting out on the mysterious 'net thing' you could access with our brand new family computer at the blazing fast speed of 26.4 kbps. My mom knew nothing about computers she hadn't seen on TV, so she had a fit for me to never ever use my real name. I had a rescued Husky/Wolf pup at the time named Gizy (for the Gremlins' Gizmo) who my dad dubbed the Wizard because no fence could hold him. Giz was a huge believer in over, under, around, or through. :)) I became GizyWizard online in his honor and stayed that way for his entire life (19 years!) though I eventually shortened it to Iamgizy, which I still use for some things in his memory.
About ten years ago (OMG, where did that time go?!) I was playing a game where my usual versions of the name Gizy were all taken. I was talking with a friend, griping about it as one does when a handle used about twenty years is 'stolen', and he suggested using the name of my favorite song as a kid, which I had inflicted on him so many times he already called me Tramp half the time. Lol
"They call me a drifter, they say I'm no good,
I'll never amount to a thing.
Well I may be a drifter and I may be no good,
But there's joy in this song that I sing.
Saddle tramp, saddle tramp...
I'm as free as the breeze and I ride where I please,
Saddle tramp, saddle tramp."
I still love it. Marty Robbins was awesome. :x
When I joined here I went with JustaSaddletramp, I've forgotten why, but I like how it has worked out. For years all my gaming friends called me Trampy, but here I'm Justa. I like it, it's a lot easier to riff off of than Tramp (JustaNotherChat, Justa Nother Showpony, etc. ;) ), and if I ever move on from here I'll move on as Justa. :D
I love y'all though and I have way too many pixel ponies to have time for other games, so y'all are likely stuck with me. :-\"~*~ Justa ~*~

pfrsue has been my primary identification since uhm... AOL was the most popular--oh heck, practically the *only*--connection to the "Information Superhighway".
PFR is an acronym which stands for Pray For Rain. Used to be my life motto until I got hit with a few too many deluges. ;) Sue is just the name I usually answer to in real life.
I've thought about changing it up a few times, but it's been so long that I reckon I'm stuck with it.--------------------------------

I'm sorry about your baby. I have a tat of my first pitty puppy. I lost him to a congenital heart defect when he was only 5 months old.
My name is pretty straightforward. I have used a variation of "devil" in all of my online profiles. Since this was a stable and had to do with horses, that's paradise to me so..... :) -
My stable name has been my gamer tag, AOL AIM username, and well everything since I first started playing games that required a username. Shadow was the name of my first cat, and when I decided I wanted to do something based off his name the only thing that I could really think of that fit (in my 12 year old mind lol) was Fall, my favorite season. So FallenShadows was born. I stick the 714 on at the end when just FallenShadows is taken, which is my birthday.Thanked by 1FollysFantasies

To talk about my stable names is actually an evolution of my screen names since 1996 in reverse order. I have been a writer in love with test based role play for a very long time. It started with Kanorah on AOL and Yahoo, but when I found forum based RP I switched to DejaRea Kanorah and many variations of. She was the heart of my family of characters for almost 15 years.
Hollowbetheink was actually created while DejaRea was in full effect. It was what I called my graphics account. A play on her living in the Hollow from Harry Potter and art.
Seaswell is the last name of her great great great grandson, He's the one I've been writing for the most the last couple of years. When my last forum closed I brought him here on a whim. I haven't regretted it a bit.45120 -

When our boys were ages 3 and 5 we asked them if they wanted to have mohawks for the summer. After shaving their little melons we hairsprayed their little hawks up for the first time and they were so excited they were running around the house like madmen. Being Star Wars fans, the older challenged the younger to a "light saber" duel using their spiky heads. I have a great photo of them (I'll try to link a bit later today). Hence the moniker DuelingHawks was born. Alot of people have asked if I was a falconer, which would be cool, but I love how it came about organically.BREEDING DARKNESS (ok black liver but it sounds cooler)

I lost my Kirby to lymphoma as well, back when I was in high school. She also was just about 7.
My primary stable name is Towdolly's Follies. I drove a semi truck for almost 15 years, and my handle was "Tuff Enuff." But that is so widely in use as a username that I settled on Towdolly.
As in, a towing "dolly" (girl); and of course the piece of equipment called a tow dolly.
Even though I no longer drive, trucking has been such a large part of my life that the user ID will stay with me.Folly's Fantasies #43484 (she/her): Horses, straws, and eggs from my Doubleskunk tribute herd are always free. -
This is amazing everyone! I love seeing everyone's stories, some funny @duelinghawks lol, and some others sad. But I love getting to know each of you better and really having that trusting community that I've come to rely on. When my fiancé and I broke up last month I turned to the community here for support and to clear my mind from all the financial craziness that accompanied trying to do things on my own. So my name goes back to when I signed up for instagram in 2012. I was a long distance runner, hence the "Run Far" part of my name... And then "Away" just sort of fit well and sounded right. I don't really know why it sounded right because I wasn't trying to move far away or running away from any of my problems...it just sort of rolled off the tongue. Anyways it stuck and I use it frequently as a username and so I brought it here with me.
Many moons ago I had an account on server one with the name LST Performance. L, S, and T were the first name initials of me and my 2 best friends and we hatched a plan in high school to one day start a farm together. I was to be the overall barn manager and vet, the other 2 were going to be the trainers with one focusing on English and the other on Western. Because we were young and had the whole world in front of us, we had the ambition to work with higher caliber horses and not so much the small town local show only owners (much of the type of people we and the people we knew were). Once out of high school we all kinda went our own ways, I've only stayed close with one of them. Only one of us still owns a horse and none of us ended up in the profession we thought we wanted. Such is life I guess though! -
Windigo is after a cute little black AQHA mare my dad gave me and my husband named her. I just loved the name when he said it so she kept it. I didn't have the time for her she deserved after I had my kiddo, so I gave her back to my dad, but her name stuck around lol.

White Mountain in named for Mt Rainier, which dominates the skyline in my part of Washington state. Were at sea level, and that mountain is 14000 feet tall and only about 40 miles away. Its 9000 feet taller than the mountain range it's sitting on. It stands out.
I have really enjoyed reading everyone's stories! My first dog was an Akita, and i lost her to lymphoma too, but at 13. I loved her a lot. Now I breed Shibas, the Akita's smaller cousin.
So many connections... -
Cheers was the barn name of my OTTB in high school. He was a 15 hand pocket rocket of a blood bay eventer. I loved him like crazy but sold him when I moved on to university. Because he was quite small, he didn’t sell within my local circle and I lost track of him. This was 20 years ago now...I hope he had a good life...
My breed name is Ausmerican because I’m an American (raised in Arkansas) who has moved to Australia, thus the hybrid! -
I just changed by breed name from Kittanning to Princeps. In my favorite book series by JR Ward, the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the princeps are the elite class of vampires so it seemed fitting to have an elite name for my ponies lol. I also use a lot of names from the books for my horses as well. For example there is Assail who is a very amazing vampire in the series. Then I have a Lewlhen which means gift, Nalla which is dear one, and Leelan which means dearest one. There will be more to come I'm sure lol.

I just thought about it, and the name of my very first account was Calliecat113. I use this username for practically everything lol it's my email too. I have had it since i was like, 11 or something. It was my very first email account and i still have it. Although, the original account is a yahoo account and I only use my Gmail now, but i know my yahoo account is still active :))
Callie was one of our cats that we had way back when (she's still alive and living with my sister. Callie is 19 years old this year). and 113 refers to my birthday, January 13th.
My oldest sister helped me and my other sister create out first emails and my sisters ended up being BobbieCat623. Bobbie was our other cat, since passed, and my sister's birthday is June 23rd :)Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

I started on the Bluegrass server, where my account name is FlyingTurkeyFarm. I just purchased my first home (!!) about six months ago, so a few months before I started playing HAJ. One of the first days on the property, we were walking outside along the driveway and three wild turkeys flew straight over head and landed in my horse pasture! Come to find out they are regular visitors at the property, we can frequently see as few as one or two or as many as a dozen+ wandering around, gobbling adorably :) We joked about calling my real-house "Flying Turkey Farm" and so I made it my game name.
We also have lots of pheasants on the property now that it's summertime, so my name for the Forest server was born :) -
My username came from back when I had to create a name for Howrse in 2009 I think? It's been a while. I just found two beautiful things and put them together. Howrse players have asked me if I play the flute, but nope. :P
As for my breed name, I went with Eorlingers after one name for the Rohirrim in Lord of the Rings. Plus it reminded me of the Halflinger breed which I've been interested in. :P -
I couldn't think of anything else at the time. :))
I posted in the forum asking for suggestions for a breed name. If I remember correctly SandyCreek suggested Sobresaliente. Which means outstanding.Quality riding horses with DP, Sooty+, Sooty, SB1 and SB2.

I started on Bluegrass where my user name is bluchrystals. It started as an aol email account that my mom set up for me before I moved out...15 years ago @-) didn't realize it had been that long till I started to type this. Anyway, I also have JenBlu and ChrystalBlues which are plays on the same name. My horse breeds are: Worchrystals, wanted something with chrystals in the name but most 'crystal' names are popular on Google; Blugroven, came about as a play of Blue Grove like a stand of trees; Moonbornchrystal, kind of explains itself .:D
