I am not certain why, but Nacre is the most expensive Rainbow Riot gene. You could put Nacre on one strand and another RR like Watercolor on the other strand. The horse will then be a magical rainbow unicorn!

Or you can buy hom Nacre and tell yourself it’s cheaper than a living horse : P

Could you imagine the HB price for hom RR Nacre? Like how people pay others to put things like chinchilla on a horse.

I don't even want to think about how much game money it would take to convince someone to add it for you. Yikes!!

I look at it this way. H&J costs come out of my entertainment budget. eating out, going to movies, buying coffee - all those costs add up too. What do you want to spend your entertainment budget on? At least with H&J, you support an independent business person.
When I want a gene I just make a conscious effort to not spend my entertainment $ for that month on other things.

@WhiteMountain, with you on that! :) Also I get paid every 28 days so I actually come out with an extra paycheck 2x a year. A percentage of that becomes reward fun for staying on track the rest of the year. :D

@WhiteMountain that is similar to how I budget for my pixel pony spending, too. Thank you for sharing your method : ) As you mention, it’s nice to know the money is going to a small business owner. I would rather my money go towards Ammit’s goat feed than to Bethesda.

After the human, medical, and canine bills are paid each month, I set aside some “fun money.” I don’t drink coffee or go to bars, and often I socialize with friends at home instead of going out. Money that could be spent on those things gets squirreled away in the Fun(d), and adding a few dollars a few times a month adds up after a while. I also put “gifts of money” from my birthday into this fund. This is how I have been able to help a few people buy genes this month in exchange for their hbs.

I volunteer at a therapeutic riding center to get my horse fix, so fortunately there is very minimal financial cost for me. When my personal horse was alive, I didn’t put nearly as much fun money into games—it always found a way to be spent on her!

@Maribo, yes, Ice 2 and Ice 10 each cost more than Nacre. I meant that Nacre is the most expensive Rainbow Riot gene. If someone wanted their horse to be hom Rainbow Riot, mixing Nacre with a less expensive RR gene is an alternative to buying two Nacre genes.
