Am I the only one who.......
  • Let's see how strange we all are! Post something you might think no one else on the game does!
    I'll start:

Am I the only one who, when I'm naming my horses, says their name as if they are being announced in a show? I just named a horse Vagabond Blonde, and I was wondering if that would be hard on an announcer! I think it would be harder if they were calling a race!

  • I have one line from a mare I named Gilded Star that I have all decedents have the word "Gilded" as the first part of their name.
    Thanked by 1SummertreeFarms
  • I also do both of those things, and I pick names That are from my favorite TV shows or bands.. like Metallicas Fade to Black or Soundgardens Black Days., WhiteSnake, etc..
  • I am breeding a line of the British Exmoor pony. Here is my foundation stud :)

  • The Exmoor looks really good :X
    Breeding Tiny Bootstraps
PM me if you ever fancy any of my stock. Always got good (small) bootstrap studs.
  • When I drive down the road and see a nice pasture, I mentally place a line of my mares in it. Yep, weird.

  • All of my horses have Magick in their names.

  • Shows off my most beautiful ponies to enough family members and friends that some actually ask for updates...

  • Has to name all my horses (no numbers or abbreviations, unless the name is too long then there's an exception.) and even sometimes give them ridiculous names...

  • Am I the only one who has set up baby gates in various jump configurations, a descending oxer for example, in order to keep puppies out of a room, then accidentally taught them to jump said gates by walking over them repeatedly so that I wouldn't have to reset them to get in and out of rooms myself? :-?
  • Looper that's hilarious! XD

Am I the only one that watches the scenery going past on road trips and imagines horses jumping all the fences? When I was younger I actually sat on top of one of those 3ft plush horses and used old handbag clip shoulder straps as reins and pretended to ride the scenery myself. :P
  • Asparagus! Wasn't that the name of the really old kitty in Cats!? (But we just call him Gus!). So see, Wolveven, it's a MAGICAL name!

Rose, I use to roll down the windows a whinney at the horses. If they picked up their heads I got SO excited!

  • I would say "am I the only one who tries to visually genetically identify horses I drive past" but I'm pretty sure this game has instilled that weird trait in all of us that play it long enough!

Open barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!

  • @RoseFlute I totally do that! Less now than I did as a kid, because adulting sucks, but I still do it every once in a while. :D
  • I'm Australian, so I name all my foundation horses after something Australian (food, place, thing, etc.), and I'm like @Wolvevenfrosst in the fact that I have to name every one of my horses, I cant stand having a horse with a number or abbreviations, and have to name all of them. And then all the horses I breed have to be a mix of their parents names.

So like an example would be a foal by TBH Ironbark Gum and TBH Lady Lamington would be named TBH Ironbark Lady, type thing.

  • I have a whole mythos in my head for the BBA.
The various RS', that they come from, each have their own traits and the various fantasy genes that each carry represent different types of abilities that manifest physically on the body.
My foundations are leaders or elders of the BBA.

At one point I wanted to have at least a generalized BBA write up on the info page of each horse but never got around to it.

I am just a fantasy lover and this mindset carries over from another pet sim game I used to play called Flight Rising where roleplay plays a large part for most people.

Breeding for all version of black drafts using chimera foundations.
Help me build my black brindle army!
Always looking to buy B/Red foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.

I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me.

  • I, too, like for all my horses to have actual names. Unfortunately, with the way life has changed and just how many horses I breed per season, I've had to compromise with myself and only name my breeding stock. There's too many show horses for me to name each month. That said, I'm currently very behind in naming.

I also will make lists of which mares belong to what line and which stallions she can be bred to that continue that line.

  • Am i the only one using Primary patronyms in one or more lines?

Primary patronyms are not hereditary and refer directly to the name of the father, with a suffix (or prefix in some cases) indicating son/daughter.

You can see an example in the pedigree for this colt:

    4S Axel Felixson STS

Axel Felixson > Felix Nottingson > Notting Bitson > Bit of Everything
    =
Axel son of Felix, Felix son of Notting, Notting son of Bit (of everything)

I started with the nordic patronyms: -sen (son of)/datter (daughter of) & -son / dotter for my Memo & Bit families. I added a Russian patronym: -ich (son of) / -ovna (daughter of) when i switched Pandion to the "Breathless". When the new anniversary HH comes out, i'll make it a colt and he'll start another patronym family, although i haven't decided which origin it'll be.
Or maybe i'll make up my own...
