I am looking for culling advice. Anyone?
-
I have a stallion I created when I joined this group. Here is the problem. He has been bred three times, twice to the same mare. All of his foals have been gelded or spayed. Would you geld him? He has sired nothing that is breedable.
-
I would try him with more mares first. It could be the mare as easily as the stallion. Did you run testing on him? If you post the stallion, we could help more. Just copy the text box on his page that has the html code in it and paste into a comment here. :)~*~ Justa ~*~

Divination Magick Here he is an dhe does have ONE colt that was not gelded out of four breedings. -
You will get a lot of horses altered by breeding advice - 1 in 4 is not unusual. The way to make the ratio better is to breed in the pasture with a pasture bonus.Breeding brown/liver/black with white spotting drafts. If you ever fancy straws PM me. PM me if you need help with GE.

Your stud looks like an average guy. You could make better horses by using perfect foundations for both mares and stallions.
You are doing right though by only breeding horses that pass breeding advice.Breeding brown/liver/black with white spotting drafts. If you ever fancy straws PM me. PM me if you need help with GE. -
Yes, Dinascar is right, for sure. The foundation rescue has lots of great breeding stock for starting out, or you could use Herd Helpers on the create a horse page. Top Notch Producers are just what the name says, as are Exceptional Producers, and Exceptionally Perfect horses are both great show horses and great for breeding. That said, if you were to keep your mares in pasture all the time and breed them there, you'll get more intact babies of better quality.
What is it you want to breed for? I might be able to help you out with a better quality stallion. :)~*~ Justa ~*~

Since I don't show in real life, the show aspect disturbs me. I'm looking to breed mostly for Bay and Warmbloods. I belong to both servers. I never use herd helpers because I have no interest in the special color genetics. I am fairly new to the game and some of this is very confusing for me. IRL my interest is Long Distance Riding (Endurance Racing). I like creating the horses and seeing what I get. My favorites are Bay. I do not care for Cremello and I have a Cremello 3 y/o stallion on one of the servers that I have no clue what I am going to do with... I am considering selling anything I have that isn't Bay... Don't ask, it's just one of my quirks. I feel like a bit of an idiot and could really use some help. My horses are placing all over the place and are very inconsistent. Feel free to look at them all. I got one that got a low Performance rating but Breeding advice said to breed the horse instead of gelding him! If this were real life he would be gelded and sold...

I used to train CTR (competitive trail riding) horses, so I get where you're coming from, not being into shows. Showing in the game is important though, you want to do that weekly after your horses are trained. :)
A lot of the herd helpers will give you bays though, so they could help. There are several that give only bays, and bay is a very common color with quite a few others, too. I went through my bay boys and only have one warmblood, but you're welcome to him if you want him. He's a Cherry Drop rank special and already 14, but he has a few good seasons left in him.
I JSI Cherry Bomb
As for your stud with low PT who passed breeding advice, that happens a lot. Personally, I don't breed a stallion with less than a 9 PT unless he's an exceptional producer i really like or has a special gene or combination of genes I want in my herd. There's an old saying that your stallion is half your herd, and it's really true. You can get nice foals from stallions with low PT sometimes, but in my experience you'll have better luck with higher quality stallions.~*~ Justa ~*~

For foundations, pt has no correlation to the horses breed ability. So your horse could be a complete dud at the show, but throws amazing babies.
The bit where you have to look at the correlation is that a good quality breeder will produce higher pted babies. These higher pted babies are not necessarily better breeding quality than their parent though. As a new player, just use BA as a tool to see if a horse should be bred from. If a horse passes, great, it's a good idea to breed to it!
Horses from the Foundation Rescue are all "Perfect Foundation" quality. This means that they have 100% breed ability and 100% show ability (how good a breeder/shower a horse is is done in percentages for the game). Here's a list of all of the mares and stallions from the foundation rescue that are colour tested to have the extension gene (having A+, At, and A will determine bay) and are warmblood. Everyone has their own favourite thing to breed, don't worry about being picky!

Feel free to be picky, and thank heavens Ammit gives us the option of auctioning off unwanted ponies. :)
I just turned over my entire 200-mare foundation herd. The qualifications: they could only have roan, sabino1, kitm, or appaloosa genes. They must be consistent, and preferably bay or black-based. I'm slowly turning over the lowest PT mares with better stock, as well as replacing chestnuts wherever possible. Watercolor is my favorite gene, and as it is designed for bays, on chestnuts it just looks drab and dull.Folly's Fantasies #43484 (she/her): Horses, straws, and eggs from my Doubleskunk tribute herd are always free.
