So I've been saving up for a while to purchase the watercolor gene when it becomes available in the RGS. And I was wondering do I have to buy 2 strands to make the horse hom or is it a one strand will make the horse hom?

You need to copies to make a horse homozygous :)

It will still show the color when you have one copy, though you need two to be homozygous :)

I bought the license for the license... on a mare, one gene, and with the wrong genes... she's gorgeous. Most of my watercolor babies come from a g2 stud I bought from another barn. (As hollowbetheink, my best named account for watercolor)

Okay that makes sense. I didn't know if the colors would show.
Now that I do know, what colors or genes would make the watercolor pop?

it looks amazing on buckskins, Browns, and horses with sooty plus. :x

Yep I think so, I love WC on bays because of the contrast between the points, and dapples always look good with WC too

And the best part about watercolor - if you don't like the color they turned out, you can reroll the portrait for 100hbs and get something else!
