Current Lifetime Payment, or (knowing how we shorten terminology on here!) CLP.

So, if I look at a younger horse like this filly (using her cause she is drop dead gorgeous!) : https://hj2.huntandjump.com/horse.php?horseid=3889808
Is this right?:
*She hasn't trained, so she hasn't earned all the points she is capable of earning, *So right now, at this second, she is only worth, as a show horse, 452 HBs?
*If I put her in the auction it would probably start the bidding at 2500 because that's the lowest it will go and (as a show horse) right now she is not worth much.

But, (trying to think like a new player here, which is not far from the truth when we're talking numbers and stuff that looks like math) she has the POTENTIAL to earn a WHOLE bunch more. So how does this number tell me what she is worth?!

I think the point of the CLP is to help when culling show stock once we get used to it. Pointed creates show value that can actually be judged, but getting dead weight show ponies off the server is better for all of us.

Your pony isn't proven yet... may make points, may not. But a leveled off horse that landed in a bad spot in the rankings, if things go the direction they appear to be going in, means we have more tools to decide if they are worth barn space, and hopefully be sold back at some point for more than create price.

This is her value to your Daily Bonus if she never shows again. If she never shows again, she wont earn any more points, so her contribution to your daily bonus will never be more than what she has currently. That multiplied by the earliest she can age out give you her CLP. Horses can always earn more by showing more, but the CLP is what they can earn if they never show again.

They need to be 10yo or older anyway to be paid out for their Current Lifetime Payment. So young horses like your filly are just like any young horse before this came in. Too young to have earnt points to be worth anything as a show horse. Just like before, she's still young and will go on to earn points and could be a very successful show horse

I am going to make some space by having a look at the 10/11 year olds that have levelled off in bad places and so won't progress much by showing anymore - they might as well earn me money now and I can give that place to a youngster with a better chance. I think this will be an incentive to weed out the not so good show ponies and free up the server - it's a great idea :)

A little of both! I think I have it, but then I start to OVER think it and confuse myself! But I also want to find a couple of different ways to explain it to new people.

It's not something I'm too worried about at the moment. I will get a much better feel for it once I start actually seeing it in action.
