Boosts?
-
How do they work? Like if I put a 5% boost on a c papered stallion that's passed SBA would it jump to a b? Or an a? I'm trying to figure which stallion I'll be boosting. It will be a rank special but I'm trying to figure out if I should boost a c or a b

It all depends on the percentages. If it's a perfect foundation, they are at 100%. An exceptionally perfect horse is at 105%. So if you give a 5% boost to a PF, their paper will go from C/yellow to a B/red.
CandyCorn is already a 105% foundation. If you boost them any higher, you'll end up with even more snipped foals through BA/SBA, as the best way to get intact offspring is to have the breedability of both parents equal. The larger the difference, the less chance that the foal gets to be as good as or better than the higher quality parent. However those that do pass would be even better quality than a normal pairing. Ammit has done a test for us with uneven ability pairing and pastures. If you have a look at this, you should be able to get a rough idea of your alter rate, and what quality the foals could be.

Your Candy Corn should end up an A/Blue, with a 5% boost, if a C papered foundation passed SBA then they would definitely end up a B with a 5% boost. Rank special and perfect foundations are only just below a B anyway so even 1% boost gets them to B. The 5% boost will take them to 105% which is the same as an exceptional

I have an A papered foundation stud. With a full pasture bonus and all/mostly exceptional mares, you can easily get 20 intact foals out of 50 using SBA. More of course using just BA, less if no pasture bonus.
Quote from Ammit off the link posted above:
"These ratios hold true regardless of how good the horses are. A sire who is 5% better then the mares will always produce a similar ratio of intact foals regardless if the cross is 105% to 100% or 125% to 120%."
An A papered foundation stud bred to Red papered foundation mares should give the same numbers of intact foals as a Exceptional stud to Perfect mares.#28036 -
@ObsidianKitsune I have 2 blue papered girls that I'm hoping to pair him with! Thank you @kintara and @Haltanny for answering my question in ways I can understand!
These are the girls, they are both blue papered foundations :)
