  • I was wondering how many of us on H&J are Australian
I only joined last month because my partner has been showing me all the beautiful horses he's been breeding, and as genetics and reproduction are one of my special interests (mainly cattle genetics, but I love horses too) I decided to open an account.
    Loving it so far
  • Hey @Malaayna2,

I'm an Aussie, born and bred down in Wagga Wagga NSW (Best State btw), I joined a just over 2 years ago now, and like you am a equine genetics and repro fanatic! But you probably would've have guessed that I'm Australian by my username and the quote you'll see under this comment, and if you saw some of the names my horses have, their tattoo's, and their tack :D.

If you ever need any help with how things work on this game, if you want some good horses to get you started, or just anything else really, give me a shout and I'll do my best to help ya.

And from memory the other Aussie's on here are @Cheers, @Goobani, @Squishlime, @kintara, and a few other's, just can't remeber their names atm

  • Hi!
Im in Queensland, family has been up here forever
You're the one with the brumbies right?
    Thanked by 1TrueBlueHorses
  • Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, way down south here...Hobart Tasmania :)
  • @Malaayna2,

I don't own any brumbies in real life, where I'm from in Wagga we don't have any in that area, but I've worked with some from Kosci before.

I do however brand and tack my pixel ponies to an Australian horse breed, so all my Sport Ponies are branded under my stud and as an Australian Brumby and exhibit tack specific to that breed, my Drafts as Australian Draughts with Heavy Horse style tack, my Warmbloods as Australian Stock Horses dressed up in fancy bridles with their roached manes and their green and gold saddle cloth and stock saddle. And so forth with my other breeds; Cob = Waler, Riding Horse = Aust. Riding Pony, Riding Pony = Aust. Pony.

  • Queenslander!

I have lived in Aus for the last 11 years but I’m American (thus my Ausmerican breed name).

Welcome Malaayna! I’m in Brisvegas. Where are you?

@TrueBlueHorses I was in Wagga for the first time earlier this year! You live in a beautiful part of the country and I had the best time down there for a weekend. One of my husband’s business partners is there. He was emcee at our wedding but I haven’t seen him and his wife in years so it was a fabulous trip and I will definitely be back soon, hopefully with my mom who would think it’s gorgeous!

And @Goobani you know you also live an an amazing part of this great country. I so envy you the produce y’all get down there, especially the stone fruit. One of my friends down there is constantly posting pictures of cherries and plums and apples and blueberries and of course we get the cast offs up here....but we get good strawberries year round so I guess that’s the weigh off!
  • @truebluehorses I've heard that Wagga is beautiful
@cheers I'm in Ipswich! Also, think of the mangoes and other tropical produce we can grow up here
Also, most temperate veggies grow here in winter, so we get the best of both worlds
  • Very true, but being the Salad Bowl of Australia isn’t quite as cool to me as being the orchard of Australia... But you’re right, the tropical fruit does offset that somewhat.
  • I suppose
    I personally love salad
Though I havent been able to eat pak choi in years
Having picked them incessantly kinda makes you sick of them
    Same with milk lol
  • Im in NSW and I've been here all my life
    Welcome to huntandjump
  • lol @Cheers....We also get snow, which is one of the reasons I moved here....but as of late it is so bloody freezing. Qld is looking really nice right now =))
I'm going for a trip to Thailand in July (To miss a chunk of winter), I'm going to scoff as many mango's as I can handle :D
It is really pretty here though :x Lots of bush walking on the weekends
  • Y'all are making me wanna move to Australia with Malaayna2 (cuz you know... bf's and other messes). But... I'm in America, and mighty broke. Therefore, even thinking of moving nextdoor (not literally) sounds really expensive. :))
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Hi @Horsey2 :-h
We got to 43 degrees last month
Sometimes I wish Queensland was more temperate tbh
@SpryOfJune I would love to have you here!
Also I'm pretty sure flying from America costs less than when I flew to western Queensland
    Its weird lol
  • @Malaayna2, last I checked (yes, I actually bothered to check) it was between $1,000-$2,000 (USD). But given my memory, who knows the accuracy. Lol
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Lol
Thats actually not that bad really
  • I have to book flights home soon. High school reunion I’m going back for in October so I need to get that booked and settled! I generally expect to pay 2k round trip Brisbane to my regional home town.
  • Damn
Yeah I have a reunion this year too
Luckily I still live in my home town so no 2k flight lol
  • @Malaayna2, no, but it might be if my brain wasn't working and it's a lot more. I doubt it is though, given @Cheers response.
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Every time I see this thread, I think it's about Australian Shepherds, and I get all psyched up for pupper pictures before I realise it's the same thread I have seen oh so many times ;))

  • @Maribo, I did the same til I realized it was my bf posting it. :))
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • I can post cute puppies! Not Aussie Shepherds....but cute all the same!
  • Awww cute
Funnily enough Australian Shepherds arent actually an Australian breed
They arent even derived from Australian dogs
The people who created them went from Australia to America and thats the only link
I just thought that was interesting
I have a picture of my blue boy Red though

    https://www.instagram.com/malaayna/p/BazvaI8j5rO/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=d3szbyj3a9a7
  • Yay, gotta love them puppy pics :x @Malaayna I know, weird right? But they are the best breed ever, so I do not mind. Here's my boy, Panto. Sorry for the huge pic. lol

Sorry for hijacking the thread. I need to start a pupper pics thread. Imma go do that...
    ID 108
  • Aww he looks lovely
And I don't mind the hijacking lol
  • @Malaayna2, RED!! I don't even "know" that boy and I love him. Lol. Well... I only know of him what you've told me. But I know the breed is lovely.
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Generally
Aussie cattle dogs can be ridiculously clingy, and super protective
But Red is a massive goofball
  • @Malaayna2, that's true. I used to have one, but his only dream in life was to kill things. And being on a farm, we didn't let things of that mindset live there long. We tried to break him of the habit, but the day he tore into our rabbit cage and got the babies and momma, we shipped him elsewhere.
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Lol yeah
Red is pretty good, but he has a pure hatred for my lavender Guinea Fowl that is kinda exhausting lol
    Thats the Dingo in them
  • Yep I'm an Aussie, in central/north Victoria! Very dry here at the moment, it's a struggle keeping feed and water to my herd, hoping for some rain soon!!
  • @Malaayna2, that's fair. At least he seems good otherwise.
    Love,
    Chase ♡
  • Hi @kintara :-h
I know what you mean, all our paddocks are green atm but theres nothing in it
    True @SpryOfJune hes mostly good
  • Lol
    Love,
    Chase ♡
