Gender change? May be giving straws away! :) (closed genes)
-
These girls are very special to me, they were a gift to represent my little ladies! What I'm wondering is should I gender change one of them, both of them, or leave them be? I'd like to make a line from them so I'm not sure what to do. Id like to make a line so when they eventually age out I'll still have something to remember them by! I know itll take a full 30 day pasture bonus with red foundations to possibly get gold mares if I were to gender change one. What do you guys think? If I do change one, which one and why? Of I gender change one I'll send a straw from each stud to commenters!

Personally, I'd leave the first set alone. They're both very young and can have lots of babies, so you can combine lines later, or keep separate lines and have two different virtual families for your girls. But again, that's just my personal take on it.
Of the second set, I'd make the first stallion a mare purely because he is het frame and I try really hard to keep frame out of my stallions, but that's just a personal opinion again. Whichever way you go, I'm sure they'll all have very pretty babiesThanked by 1Amgr1992 -
Thank you @ShelteredShadows! I was thinking to make one of the first set a stud because I wasnt sure how it would turn out breeding them plus I dont have a premium so it would take a very long time to create a line! And I would be limited to 30 foals between the two, and that would be if every single one passes. I'm not sure what to do =))

Im not sure what I would do with the first set, they are so perfect and gorgeous. The only slight issue with them is they both have w2, which could potentially cause problems if they both happen to give it to one foal.
But I agree with making the first boy in the second set a mare. I’m of the same mindset, that frame is a no-no in my boys. -
@FallenShadows714 I was gonna take it off whoever I changed :) and I think I'll make the one with frame a girl :) I dont generally keep frame on my studs so itll work out perfect!

The first setI would leave as mares until they hit age 15 then I would gender switch and pull as many straws as possible before they age out to breed with after they pass plus you would have a few seasons with them covering pasture mares as well.
Withthe second set Id make the first stud a mare due to the frame gene and its easier to breed risky mares to a safe stud.
Just my thoughts :) they are all very beautiful. -
Why leave them till 15 @Amour33? I'm just curious!

@Amgr1992, I definitely understand the line issue. I have two memorial horses myself that I was thinking of making a line of but decided it would take too much effort with little reward. And ultimately the decision is completely yours, but I had a couple thoughts, if you want to read them.
1) If you like those specific colors, purple and yellow, in my experience, it will be difficult to replicate them in the foals since both have red, one had blue, and one has green. But if you don't care about color, that becomes a moot point.
2) There are so many amazing people in this game; I'm sure, if you were willing, someone could buy them for a minute, flush them of eggs and make you embryos, then send them all back. Then you would have more than 30 foals between the two and would have the solid beginnings of two lines. Even if you made one a boy, I'm sure there are still people who would help you flush the mare and have lots of pretty babies.
Ultimately the decision is yours, and I'm sure all babies would be absolutely gorgeous. Those are just my personal thoughts on the subject. Hope your baby girls are doing well! -
In a way that would give you the best of both worlds ,so to speak, with how young they are now and until they 15 (or any age you choose ) lets you get plenty of foals out of them as mares and and still have a few seasons to use as studs on as many mares as possible for those seasons plus having time to collect straws for use long after they have aged out. Depending on your views on in game in breeding you could even cross the foals from when they were mares to them as studs matching them up for even lines is still possible that way.
-
If they have foals, you can't give them a gender change amour. I do agree with ShelteredShadows though, I personally think that you should just leave both of them as is and make a stud to pair with them (or, I could give you some free straws from my A papered axiom foundation ;) ).
If I owned all of the axiom licenses I'd help ya flush em.Thanked by 1Amgr1992 -
Whoops forgot about then gender being on there as well with foals (thats what I get for talking before I get done with my work and sit down) hmmmm..... Well to change that around if you could find someone willing to flush them for you for a few seasons and work with you on creating the embryos but Not implanting them untill you change their gender then that could work with getting foals from them as both genders.

Thank you guys! I'm gonna take MariaChapinfarms up on her straw offer for them!

I’m partial to having my fancy foundations all as studs so I can stick 50 mares in a pasture with them each season. Then the 2nd Gen foals can be crossed together (or with the foals of the other) for homo foals.Breeding even generation Grullos with IceThanked by 1Amgr1992
