Greyed out genes
-
My main page says I dont own greyed out genes.
What are greyed out genes?
Does it mean a grey horse?
Or is it a pack that needs to be bought?
-
No, greyed out genes are "restricted" genes that you have to pay money for to buy the license to breed them. This includes many ice genes, water colour, wrong warp, the axiom colours, etc. There are many!
The good news is that now you can buy these genes for other people, so that they can get their license! This is usually done by people paying the person who buys it in hbs. It's roughly 100k every $1 spent, so a $15 gene would be 1.5mil. Expensive, but then it's worth it. Here are some examples of the limited genes (I do not own these, I got them from the horse search):

Even if you do not have the license for the gene, you can still purchase altered horses with those genes. This is because you can't breed from altered horses, so a few people collect them as pretty show poniesProducer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.

If you scroll all the way down on your member home page, you'll see the list of closed genes.
The genes you own show up teal with black writing, ones you don't show up pale blue with grey writing. That's what the "greyed out" is referring to, specifically. :) -
Ahhh
Thank you both so much!
Thst clears it up -
Also, the way you can purchase those genes is under the “Upgrades and Extras” tab, and click on “Upgrade with Real Money”. Scroll all the way to the bottom where it says Limited Edition Gene Sales. On the 1st and 15th of every month, 3 genes (some closed, some open) are available for purchase with real money. Once you have purchased the closed gene, you are able to breed and purchase intact horses with that closed gene. The open genes are available to anyone to breed anytime, but the only way to get them on a foundation is to purchase them that way (although some are available in the Gene Modification Lab for Gene Mod Tokens).
