Breeding question
-
I bought a hom nexus colt for my bootstrap line that I will be starting here. I want to stay towards cob/draft sizes but he is a shorter warmblood. How would I go about this? Would I breed 50 mares to him and then only keep the cob/draft size intact? I never really got serious on my main account for breeding or showing and I want to start right on this one :) Here's the colt for referance.

Yep. Pretty sure he is just under the draft bone cut off (2.5 I believe) so he has a good chance of breeding drafts when paired with drafts. Just cull the warmbloods if you want to strictly stay draft. Or only keep foals that have a higher bone density than him and continue to breed up to the draft bone weight.Thanked by 1CircleT92

Thank you @Riley1119! I think he's also at the perfect height for cobs as I've found some at 14.2. So I think he may work perfect! :)

A 'cob' is a draft that is pony sized, so 14.2hh and smaller. A draft/cob is a horse with a bone weight of 2.5 and above. If you breed him to cobs you should be able to get mostly cobs. If they are tall cobs then the height could go above 14.2, making them drafts.Producer of Volcanic Glass Drafts. Lapisobsidianus.
