I bred this colt at the beginning of the season he’s a 3g, B papered colt. I’ve never done any boosting before and am wondering how much it would take to bump him up to A, or even if he’d be able to.

He tested superior to sire
And As good as a second generation A papered stallion

It would probably take a maximum 2% boost to make him an A paper. I’m pretty sure they need to be within 2% to test As Good As another stallion.

In regards to boosting. I don't bother with 1% boosts anymore. Too many times i ended up still having to use five 1%'s and it was a waste of money. While it might only take a couple 1%'s to bump his paper (since he is superior to sire) i still would go for a 5% because it ensures a bump and gives him a little extra. But if you can't afford that route, i agree that it would probably take around two 1%'s to bump him.

What I have learn't with boosting is....
They have to pass at least basic breeding advice to make it worth it. I have yet to come across a horse (In my experience) that has changed grade with out at least a 5% boost.
