How to Reach my Goal
-
My end goal is to breed Hom Snf, Hom KP liver and silver black drafts, all that are consistent and good producers. I have started breeding my Snf foals, and KP foals, and I’ve tried a couple KP stallions with Snf mares, but it seems to only give het of one or the other, if that at all. Should I just keep breeding these foals back in, or is there an easier way?
-
*also, I bred a Hom Snf Liver stallion, but he is inconsistent. If part of my goal is to have them consistent, should I keep him for his Snf, or sell him because of this?
-
Your best bet is to really either start from foundation level, with a hom KP/snowflake stud and pair him with mares with 2 kit genes, or to buy a second or third gen stallion that is hom for both KP/snowflake and pair with het KP/snowflake mares. It’s easier to start your own line, because then the quality and genes are all controlled by you.
On the consistent/inconsistent, it’s honestly luck of the draw. If the stud is inconsistent he is more likely to throw inconsistent, but they are also capable of throwing consistent. I’ve had inconsistent foals out of two consistent parents. But inconsistent does drop their PT score by up to .5 or .6 of a point.
I might have a third gen snowflake stud that is het for KP, that can be made hom KP and hasn’t been bred you are more than welcome to. But it would require you being able to make him hom KP. Breed him to third gen mares with two kit genes, and all the foals will be het KP. Then breed the foals to each other, and cross your fingers. -
If you have the money or GMT tokens, I'd start afresh with 2 b papered consistent foundation stallions who are hom snowflake, hom kp, 2 kit genes and 2 coppies of LP, and then have a pasture full of foundation red papered mares that have 2 kit genes. Then keep all the A/Blue foals and breed them together and eventually you'll get more and more homozygous foals with both the genes you want.
But that's the most expensive way to go about it, otherwise I'd just try to buy the best stock you can and start from there.
I will take a while to get you line going as both KP and Snowflake are recessive and then they need at least 1 lp gene and 2 kit genes to show them.
Good luck on reaching you goals.21170 -
I have this third gen guy, never been bred. He would require up to 5 GMT tokens to meet your goal, and I can list them. I’m not sure if he got either KP gene from his parents, but he does have two kit genes, so it would be a maximum of 2 tokens to make him hom KP. He is inconsistent, so it would take 1 token to make him consistent. He is only het DP, but can be made hom for 1 token. And he can be made hom LP for one token, to ensure all foals get a copy of appy and a copy of snowflake.

In regards to the consistency, I'd make that one of your end goals rather than beginning. If you're requiring all foals be hom KP/SNF/DP/silver/lp/two kit genes and consistent right out of the gate, you won't be getting any intact foals, of course, so I'd say start with requiring just kp/snf/dp (maybe hom for one, het for the other two, or just hom for one) and refining from there, adding the requirement for hom of two, then hom of three, then requiring silver, then when they're all gorgeous using consistency to keep your numbers manageable.
That being said, my SNF/KP/DP/prl line is my pride and joy, so I'm more than happy to send dozens of straws your way if you don't mind the pearl ;)

I also have two foundation silver black draft studs who are hom for DP/KP/SNF/and S+.
I made them because I was so in love with Lally's ponies. LOL
If you are interested in straws just shoot me a PM. :)ID# 47364

@lallyhop, they’re beautiful! I’d love to be able to have that some day! I’ll let you know which straws I have my eye on :)

@CoppiLane Just PM me with who you want straws from :)
@srauch23 While I don't have too many warmbloods, in general the bone weight isn't super high (Frozen Speckles is 2.88) so you could pair straws from my boys with your lighter ladies (any under 2 bone would be perfect) and it should be easy enough to get warmblood babies. He's thrown a couple 2.4 out of 2 ish ladies. Could also pair him with RH for even lighter WB babies. PM me if you want to give it a try!ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! Some great advice in this thread.
I breed for him kp, hom sf, liver chestnut appy drafts so I don’t really have warmbloods.
But I did get this warm blood boy this season.
He isn’t exactly what you are after but he’s hom kp. He’s 4th gen though and is het DP but isn’t liver.
If he can help at all you are welcome to have him.
He can’t breed for another 2 seasons but he’s a quality boy.
I can also offer straws from hom/het kp and snowflake stallions of Various generations but they are draft. Just message me if you are interested :)

aw dang! I got rid of almost all of my kp/snowflake herd, or else id give you some horses..
I do have these, though. You are more than welcome to have unlimited straws for pull price from my foundation stud, that is Hom snowflake, Het dp, and Hom gulastra plume. You can have either of the other two boys

@crystal93, I’d love to take him!
@mariachapinfarm3 I’d love to take croissant! All your boys are stunning, especially Castiel, I’ll have to get straws from him once I’m further along in my breeding :) -
I have a light boned herd of KP/DP/SF that would be useful in breeding to heavier boned horses to stay in the mediam range.
1B BRTH Xp Bit o Evrythin
This guy will produce liver with sooty chestnut mares, guaranteed. He has lots of nice genes.
I have another foundation boy, but he isn't finished yet. If you need some light boned 2g fillies to pair with heavier 2g boys, let me know. I can probably get you a few from Bit above. I'll be breeding him soon for this season.#28036 -
@haltanny, I’d love to take a peek at your herd! Do you happen to have any drafts with those genes? I’ve always loved the drafts and would love to try and continue towards that goal of having a heavy line
-
@Haltanny would you be willing to let me have some straws from your pretty boy as well?ID 43830
It's nice to be back! :)

@CoppiLane I don't think I have any drafts with all of the same genes. I do have some random drafts that carry Snowflake or KP, lots have DP. I have a few warmblood/sport pony, but this line is mostly light boned and relatively new, so only 2g.
@HTRanch Always happy to share! I'm not sure what to ask as far as price. Feel free to PM me to discuss.#28036 -
If you don't care about even breeding I have KP Warmbloods/Sport Ponies that have popped up in my herd. I can put the boys up for stud or send straws. I already bred the girls but I can put up a few for brood in March if you're interested. I just had a hom KP Sport Pony colt born last season that passed BA. tested AGA his sire and has a PT of 13.3
