So it looks like Friday my Hazel may be home, but we'll have to leave Sophia in the hospital for awhile. She isnt handling whatever they contracted very well. She keeps destating, although they said shes doing slightly better today. We had to put her back on the high flow oxygen and putting ng tube back in is a high possibility if she stops eating again. Their weights are 6 pounds 2 ounces and 4 pounds 14 ounces. We had been steadily exactly a pound apart until she got sick. The no children under 15 doesnt apply to twins thankfully so I can take Hazel with me when I care for Sophia. I feel so lost. I wish I could help more but we are gonna try to latch her and do skin to skin so my body produces antibodies for her to help her. So far shes had a problem latching even with a shield but any little bit will help. My step grandmother was sick the day after being there with the girls, then the next day the girls were sick and my stepmother is trying to blame the nurses. It's highly irritating. I'm devastated that I've failed to protect my babies and that they are trying to blame everyone but the common denominator. I dknt believe in coincidences. :((

Prayers to Sophia to heal, to Hazel to continue to be healthy, and to you for peace. We already know that Sophia is a fighter, and I hope she catches up to he sister soon.

Thank you guys! Today was a good day for them from what I was told, they took Sophia off the oxygen to see if she can handle it and I have to call later to see how she did but they said no apneas as of earlier! Still not coming home yet though :(

It's good that she appears to be recovering. I'm sure you're sad that she won't be coming home yet. It must be hard not to have both of your girls home together. I continue to pray for her speedy recover and return to continued growth so that she can come home.

Thank you SandycreekFarm! They are holding Hazel back, everytime we get close to taking her home but not Sophia she destats. They think that she doesnt want to leave her sister =))

Baby girl is back on the oxygen AGAIN. They gave her something like a water pill to make her pee more and pull fluid away from her lungs. They are nmore thinking the holes wont close on their own which will mean open heart surgery when she is stronger. My poor baby :-(

Well it looks like baby girl will need open heart surgery when she gets bigger. There is too much blood flowing the wrong way in her heart for the VSD to close on it's own. They gave her something like a water pill to pull the fluid buildup from the VSD off her lungs. She seems to have stabilized as she took a full feeding from her dad with out a destat. Which is a big thing! We are completely terrified but we just want what's best for her. Hazel on the other hand was upgraded to a normal bassinet and is eating so much!

Your girls are strong and they are DEFINITELY bonded. We talk a lot about bonding that occurs after birth but all that quality time in utero is so important! Sophia is surrounded by people who love her and it sounds like her sis is rooting for her too! It's pretty clear that you have some strong, determined future world changers on your hands. Make the most of the bonding time you have now and love on your girls. You are their world as much as they are yours <3

I’m glad Sophia is improving some and please, know the surgery to correct a VSD is done much more commonly than you might think! I will be thinking of y’all and please let us know when the surgery is getting closer so we can all send healing vibes and good thoughts to you all.

I’m thrilled little Hazel is being a healthy happy girl for you so you only have to worry about one. Hug those babies and know we are all behind you sending you healthy thoughts!
